New Amiga 1200 case kickstarter campaign launched

Awesome.. =)
Lmao, holy shit, this can't be real
I want that poster tbh :)
LOL @ all the rest, this place man, this place :)

I find "RSI VIP Groupmember Chat IRC Invitation" funnier than anything you could ever LOL at on Pouet.
I personally think the VIP thing is a lost in translation thing going on. Not to defend it or anything, but I believe it means, that the people getting the irc chat session or whatever are the VIPs? It's not meant to be read as "VIPs from RSi" I think, but what do I know.
But again, drama is drama.
But again, drama is drama.

Yes, that's how i at least got it too and it's still totally priceless :)
It simply means what is advertised : Amiga backers of our limited edition will, if they wish to, be able to participate ala Reddit AMA or just idle one unique day on our irc private channel, to observe what demogroup day-to-day innerworkings are like. As such, not being group members, it is considered a privilege and they are this one time considered as V.I.P, or "special" (or whatever you wish to name it) since it is a bypass exception.
We are doing this only to help the Amiga community (you might have one yourself or wish for your child to be able to buy one in the foreseeable future) , we don't get money out of it, or any cases free, and it takes some of our already lacking time otherwise used for producing. Naysayers should consider keeping any snickering, sarcasm or marks of envy to themselves at least until the end of the Kickstarter so as not to pollute communications.
If you don't want to "Watch Amiga 1200 get back to life", fine, but at least shut up about it.

Okay, so let's make a few things clear, because you can't indefinitely appeal to the greater good just because someone voiced their qualms about things.
So the KS right now is set to a €125k goal, with €80 per case. Doing the math, that's a bit over 1500 cases. Now, I can only think in demoscene numbers, but even assuming everyone who has an Amiga buys one (and why would they, some cases work just fine), I feel you're still overestimating the numbers; for comparison, even ADA only has ~1200 Amiga sceners on file. And again, this is assuming everyone wants to buy a new case, most of whom I don't think they need one. You're grossly miscalculating the demand for this here, and the current funding level seems to prove my point.
Note that I'm not saying you're asking for too much - molds are expensive, I get that - but that you're pointing fingers in a scenario where there's noone to blame. You can't force people want things. The fact that you're doing this to "help the community" is commendable, but as seen above, the community appears to be too small to carry it. I mean, as a personal example, I'd love to buy one if I _had_ an Amiga, but without that there's really no point to lug another piece of future-landfill around.
I'm not aiming this at the people who started the original KS because I'm sure they wanted to the right thing. But the main point of contention here are the perks / special models, which I think need some more careful consideration to avoid stepping on toes here:
See, my big problem with the group-branded cases here is that the three "brands" all have very questionable relation to the Amiga at this point; LukHash is mostly known for his chiptune/gameboy-influenced stuff, whereas Scoopex and RSI seem to be mostly dabbling in short compo-filler products for the most part, none of which result in a huge pressure to get their branding on something as potentially visible as an Amiga case. That's not to say there wouldn't be groups who I'd consider; there's plenty of groups like Elude, TBL, Dekadence, Loonies, and so on, who still make seriously impressive things on the Amiga, but they're not on the list, and noone's heart rate goes up when they see "RSI" or "Scoopex" in an Amiga compo at this point. The sub-perks themselves are an extension to this: who would be interested "VIP chat" with a group who, honestly, hasn't been "VIP" for a long time now? That's not to say that the case or the logo or the poster doesn't look good, but having "VIP chat" as a perk sounds overly ambitious at best and grossly self-inflating at worst.
And on the note of self-importance, no, you're not bringing Amiga back to life. You're just wrapping a nice new box on the same old hardware, which sadly continues to degrade over time. You're literally just replacing the cheapest bit and expecting to be treated as heroes for it. (Again, not aiming this at the original KS.)
Gargaj, thank you for participating - may I nevertheless correct some of your miscomprehensions :
You must be meaning this "at the original KS.)", not us surely ? We have nothing to do with fixing this KS. So it's off-topic for us.
Yes, I agree with you to some extent. it's a marketing term I agree, just something you can place and is easily understandable and close enough to an outsider that fits in a 3 words only text mini-banner (known as graphical constraints like "Red sector badge" "memberlist poster" "never released intro" "limited keyfobb").
WhouOoo, look at you on top of things ! I do not agree with you : our last placings are 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 1st and 2nd.
I understand you did participate to one important top 10 prod this year (like us), but I find it offensive you put yourself and some random accelerated windows C code above the rest to criticize so easily other people's work.
Sure, these are good groups and I don't have the answer to why they were busy or didn't propose to help and be "on the list" since the KS' creator email is public.
I still fail to grasp how the statement "there are other good groups, some I consider better than your group" ought to prevent any other group "not on your (personal) list" to offer any help based upon any subjective moraly questionable authority. If one is willing to help, let them : the Internets are free.
No doubt there to some extent, but did you read the previous exchanges in this thread before posting, such as this one though ?
Makes some sense too, agree ?
Again we're not expecting to be treated as heroes, we're just trying to help (if you've read elsewhere the opposite posted, please do point me to it).
Could it be that "our friendly dictator" is just wrongfully projecting his own reverse psychology onto our own unrelated and simple behaviour ?
Btw, we did both this time, "case logo" and a demo, so surely this was not addressed to us either.

20:50 Gargaj some make demos, others paint their logos on cases.

Hi Gargaj,
I'm Phil from KS team who launched this campaign.
Good idea, i'll help you for that mate ;)
Yes.. mathematically...
But do you really think we did not knew that ? Thats why we went for special editions.
Our cases are compatible with Individual Computers A1200 Reloaded motherboard for instance.. as well as for the Raspberry Pi and MiST boards... but thats new.
Some of our backers actually support us because they're going to be able to install one of these boards in our case. Even sceners who has scratched/cracked/missing parts cases, would maybe want a new case. You simply don't know that.
int number = 0;
while(number < 10000)
{
Console.WriteLine("We don't care about demogroups dramas. You're all equally important to us!");
number = number + 1;
}
Hope everything's clear now ;)
Lukhash mostly used Amigas in his childhood.. Was influenced by, to compose his music!
He told me that himself. Thats why he was so happy to make his special edition.
Groups that you'd consider are not necessarily groups that we'd consider.
We've took the ones who actually answered us.
If any other group want to join, and we've already stated that, we'd be really honored !
[quote}and noone's heart rate goes up when they see "RSI" or "Scoopex" in an Amiga compo at this point[/quote]
When I see the RSI and the SCOOPEX future sitckers/badges on the coming cases it makes MY heartbeat faster.. I'm 40!
I hear you, but despite what you said we can't just ignore your comment it does impact the KS campaign and our work.
I have to say that after 20 days of this campaign we're just tired of people telling/saying/explaining why this or that is good
We're Amiga fans. And we want to do something for the Amiga, and for the Amiga community.
If you don't like our cases, you've made your point.
But by claiming what is good or bad about OUR campaign, you're actually NOT helping the whole Amiga community and the backers who want new cases.
-> Listening to everybody complaints aims in one direction only : NOTHING Happens, nothing move!
Thank you.
And support us! I'm sure you need to change your trapdoors for new ones don't you ? ;)
Cheers,
Phil

Correcting:
"I have to say that after 20 days of this campaign we're just tired of people telling/saying/explaining why this or that is good "
I'm sorry.. i'm not sure there's an "edit" button ?

any more dead amiga groups?
generations backwards!
generations backwards!
Rebels should do one ;P
And yes I am kidding, I love your products.
Serious suggestions would be groups like; Lemon., Skid Row, Fairlight, Spaceballs, Alcatraz, Rebels obviously, and so forth. Reason: Been active on Amiga, still active in some way or another.
Remember, suggestions, so keep the salt in the bags.
Remember, suggestions, so keep the salt in the bags.
So I wonder, who would be in the RSI VIP groupmember chat, just in case the campaign gets funded? As this is an Amiga campaign, RSI VIPs would surely include people like Delta, Dr. Beat, Dr. C, or Romeo Knight, right? Is my understanding correct?
And Bill Best, Greg, and Kalgol Kid, surely? ;)
Although I can already see them being emulated by some sort of bot...

I wish someone would finally dig this guy up. Really.

Dear friends,
Our campaign has ended and like we already knew it eventually did not reach the goal.
But we did reached a wide audience of the Amiga community, and we'd like to thank all the awesome backers who supported this campaign.
We'll be back soon and re-launch the campaign on a longer period, starting early September.
We'll also share with you some astounding news with you very soon before the re-launch.
Again, thanks to all of you for this fantastic campaign, and see you in some days
