gource your favorite repos!!

category: code [glöplog]

gource, as I just discovered is very nice for visualizing commit history. Anyone else heard of this?

I thought I'd run it by my own code. This is the history for git commits on the Mega-Happy-Sprite repo. You see four major regions. The center is the prog. Branched off of that is the gui code, website in www, visual resources, and examples Hope you enjoy!

It's been a plugin of Git extensions for a long time now :)

I can't be arsed making a video but running gource on this does stress your system a bit!

never heard of it.. at work we're migrating to a stash/git set up slowly, but the main product has components dating back 14 years in another version control system.

somewhere there is a gource anim of the amiga os source code that goes right back to the rccs commits of the early 80s up to os4.x.

there was also an older thing like this called CodeSwarm, which iirc started this whole repo visualization thing, but seeing this now (and remembering i've actually seen it before) gource is much prettier.

Seems like a pretty but utterly pointless visualisation, and what kind of idiot would spend time on that? :)

This came at a very good time... my day-job project just hit version 1.0 today, so I used this to generate a bit of extra eye-candy to accompany the launch :-) Thanks for sharing!
