We need the monitors to be loud enough so that we don't get confused from the main PA sound (and the echoes the hall produces).
Also, it's more fun playing with the volume up, which in case means we get less boring on stage. We need to feel the music just as much as the crowd does to get into the vibe.

I really don't think it was that loud in the hall. I sat at a second table from the front and while I did put in ear plugs, if I wanted it didn't hurt to listen without them. For better being able to keep hearing it in future, though, that's why I put them in.
Honestly if the sound system was too loud, or louder than it was, I don't think the ear plugs from the front desk would have done anything. I like that the organizers provide free ear plugs, and they do help with the current sound levels.

I had a little, but that's the same as every year. I think I have yet to actually drink a full beer while there. However that's pretty normal. I don't really do alcohol much any other time of the year. Now if you had some odd soda for me to try ... :)
