Awesome that you're going to make it. But I still don't understand it, why are you going to spend that money on dead plastic? If newly pressing the exact same records is cheaper?
I really have no clue why you're doing this but I think you rock so chipped in anyway.
Hi Skrebbel. Well, it seems that the reason is shaping up as we progress.
1- I've made a downpayment to U-Cover and they have sent me the 145 CDs.
2- I've sent $80 to Merck Records and they just sent me 136 CDs (except USPS is being annoying and it's still stuck somewhere in the US even though it was sent 8 days ago)
3- I've used some of the campaign money to purchase a ticket to visit the UK to bring back 73 Lackluster vinyls from deFocus Records backstock.
There's still 13 days left, so we'll see what I can list up as perks for the rest, since there are two more projects I'm trying to make happen during this crowdfunding campaign.
If everything goes perfectly, I'll have 281 CDs here + 73 vinyls here minus any cds that have been earmarked for the campaign perks and any vinyl that I manage to sell during my trip in the UK (8th april - 15th april).
Hmm, I've sent stuff with USPS a lot. I can say that I've not had them lose a package yet to anyone. However depending on where you live the average seems to be around two weeks to get there "as fast as possible" methods. They also don't tend to put in updates in to the tracking, if you have it, for when it departs the US other than to say it's in progress to the destination. The next item afterwards will abruptly be the destination country's customs or similar.
Also if those are different vinyl from the "You wanted vinyl!Yougots it 2!" reward, I wouldn't mind buying another random--from my point of view--record or few. Definitely falls under "Heck, why not?"

get there assuming it wasn't sent with the "as fast as possible" methods*
(correction.)
Sending stuff really fast is rather expensive, but they can get it to the target country's customs if it's in Europe in about or just under a week. Then the recipient has to wait for customs to notify them and then go in to fight with them over why they overcharged on the customs fees ... bleh.

Yeah, they're 4 different vinyls altogether. I'm trying to figure out how to make it feasible - since the campaign ends 5th March, and I am able to send the vinyls around 16th April (depending on how broke we are after the trip).
But yes, I'm intending to add more perks, to cover the CDs being sent from the US and the vinyls I pick up from the UK.
Ok, I added more perks, and re-jigged some of the perk-prices (the ones that don't have any takers, that is).
You seem to have made your second stretch goal. :)

Totally! Adding some deFocus vinyl to the mix really seemed to help. I've also alerted other people.
It seems that doing an unboxing video of the U-Cover CDs coming in really helped too, people seemed to like it! here it is!

what do you think?
Ok, here's unboxing#2 this time of Merck CDs.

Um, you didn't actually answer my question. Why is the old plastic better than brand new (but otherwise entirely identical) plastic?
original pressings on respected idm labels (defocus, u-cover, merck) > represses :)
well, at least most collectors want original stuff, not some cdbaby cdrs ;)

Hi Skrebbel! Because, it already exists, and should be used and heard, rather than creating new ones of the very same musics - especially if it risks the chance of winding up in a landfill, like some of my CDs and vinyl have. :)

does CDBaby do CDRs and not full-on-legit-authentic-Compact Discs?
just checked, they do both and don't get me wrong, i have nothing against cdrs.
That's pretty neat. I've been asked by some diehards for CD releases, not sure if I should go the CDBaby -route for them. I'll have to see what the minimum order is.
esa thanks, i get it now.
17 hours left and the campaign is over.
i wonder if we'll break 2000 :)

Well, it's officially over. But zombiefied (InDemand makes it possible to still get some perks if ya like!)
Congrats!

well, yes and no. would've been nice to get to $2500. :)
Any progress? on getting remaining bits or shipping things?

Hi! Thanks for asking!
We did travel to the UK and picked up the deFocus vinyl (FOC349/FOC354/Wrapping/Container) - the extra cost of taking them with us via the plane set us back a lot and that's why we didn't immediately send the vinyl out upon returning to Finland.
However, I just hand-delivered two vinyl to Astu/FLO via Nosfe and sold 4 to Nosfe too.
I'm going to be cutting up cardboard boxes and preparing the packages. There's one vinyl going to the Netherlands, two vinyl going to the UK, a three vinyl package going to Finland, a four-vinyl package going to Finland...
and six (!) vinyl going to the US. That's the one that will cost quite a bit, and I'm currently trying to figure out which packages I should prioritise. I should probably bite the bullet and send the biggest package out first, as that's probably the one that is the most wanted. Then go for the 2 vinyl package to the UK, 3vinyl to Finland and 4vinyl to Finland - unless if I can negotiate the delivery of said .fi vinyl to a festival I'm playing at in June.
I've also listed the Showcase CD up for sale on http://lackluster.bandcamp.com/merch, if that matters.
Yes, I've been lagging behind on sending out the two EPs in MP3 format, because I thought sending out the vinyl would be the first thing to take care of.
The ultimate reason why the vinyl hasn't been sent out yet is simply because we ran out of funds during the UK trip, and I have had to wait till I get money from the unemployment office to be able to send it all out. That, and other unforeseen things relating to rent and absolute bullshit that I have to work out on my own.

A better response is that I've listed my Ableton Push up for sale, and once it sells hopefully within the week, I can send out the vinyl to everyone.
Don't you dare! To help connect some dots, I'm the guy from the US who was interested in the vinyl. I would feel bad if you had to sell something like that to send me the vinyl.
Do you know ir have a good estimate on what it would cost to send the remaining vinyl? I can cover that, at least up to a point. (I wouldn't think we're talking $1k in shipping costs, right?)

The name on the Indiegogo for me likely shows up as Arthur McBain (or Art). Also I don't want anything extra shippedin return for the above offer, but I wouldn't say no to tracking if it doesn't up the cost 2x over normal to do it.

Hi, working on it. It's been a wild week.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll have the vinyl packaged up tomorrow at the latest - and can show them at the postoffice and get a quote. I'm guesstimating 79-99€ for the whole haul.
The most expensive one will probably be 30-40€ for the US trip. I hope it won't be over 50€!
That'd be daylight robbery. :)
