In cooperation with demozoo, scene.org, mags.64.org, and my university, I just launched this project. The aim is to digitise and preserve material artefacts of the cracking- and demoscene - whose productive output was/is mostly digital and thus rather well-preserved (and taken care of by several other projects), yet its substantial non-digital output (magazines, flyers, stickers and such) is largely scattered through private collections and thus out of reach for activists and researchers alike.

The idea is to facilitate high-quality, original size, full-color scans, along with substantial metadata. You can send the materials to me to be professionally scanned at university and then shipped back to you safely, but you can also pass on materials to me at a demoparty (next opportunity would be Outline), or make the scans yourself. The focus should be on materials that either are not preserved on the net at all, or are preserved with rather bad scans.

It's possible to digitize ourself and send data (because I want to keep my archive :D).

I have somekind of great papers (like an original Skid Row "software" ordering sheet form Amiga era :D) and a bunch of very oldskool party flyers, and still own several party votedisks :)

@Canopy: Of course you are very welcome to point out items that are particularly rare and lost. Alternatively, there is already a C64 sort-of wishlist at Jazzcat's mags.c64.org website: http://www.atlantis-prophecy.org/mags/wanted.php.

As for the Demoscene Research website, thanks for pointing it out, I am one of the editors. =)

@rez: If you have hardware to facilitate high-quality, full-color scans, you are more than welcome to make the scans yourself! Otherwise you can send the stuff to me and I will send it back to you safely (Swiss post is as reliable as can be). I am __extremely___ intersted in your stuff, particularly the Skid Row sheet. Yes, the sceneletters website features excellent material (even though with quite an Australia bias, which is understandable given it's the private archive of an Australian ex-swapper).

My dream site is something that follows on from this. A site which 'curates' all coding related articles etc from all the diskmags produced over the years. Either in extracted text, or screen-shot form. In the context of history, I assume of that that other articles are also of value either in a scene history (party reports and the like), social or other context.

Canopy: Also, there is www.bitfellas.org which contains a lot of articles from diskmags, but you are right that this collection is far from complete.

bitfellas is not a site i've ever explored, only when direct linked.

I found some good stuff under "scene city" -> articles and tutorials. and also under "deMOSZENE", my german is fairly rusty, but I'll be able to run it through google :)

What about party shirts, banners, etc?

In case you don´t have them already: I still have some tum99 and 0a000h entry cards, as well as most combined tickets from bünzvoke :)

T$: No, I don't think I have them - please do get in touch and we'll see how to do best about them.

Party t-shirts and the like are of course welcome too - the question is how to scan them. I don't have access to a scanner larger than A3 - but I think really good photos would suit, too.

Great initiative Dipswitch! I must have material from French demoparties of the late 1990's somewhere at my parents' place. Will try to locate them next time I'm there.

Old French Amiga demoscener leZone/Marshals scanned an incredible amount of demoscene paper artefacts from the mid-1990s to mid-2000s for our project. This is just the first batch of his kind contribution.
