Like Shadow, I was very confused about the Amiga OCS prods appearing in different compos. Something to think about next year, I guess. :-)

This is a discussion I've brought up for at least the past 3 years now.

Amiga has it's own compos. Just put all Amiga demos/intros in there.

I know there's people who will cry how unfair it is to pit OCS against AGA/060, but the same argument can be used for ZX81 vs OCS.

Pretty sure that Amiga wasn't allowed in Wild at Breakpoint and nobody seemed to make a big deal out of an OCS demo competing against all the AGA entries.

Wow, what a great party.

It was nice meeting friends and make new ones. The compos were so great, lots of awesome entries this time.

But at the very top winning the Meteorik for »Alternative Platform« was beyond words. Big thanks to the jury!

And more thanks to the BIG team for making an event like this possible. Looking at some of their faces at monday morning proved that a lot of them didn't get much sleep over the whole week and worked tremendously hard. THANK YOU.

Revision was a blast as ever!

Lots of old friends to party with; lots of new friends I spoke with (or at the very least made semi-coherent noises at until they nodded and pretended to understand); lots of beer, waffel geniever, straffschnapps, and of course KRAWALL to pour down my neck hole; lots of excellent DJs to wave my arms and legs irratically at; and lots of amazing demos!

Ode to Joy came in 12th, which is quite generous of the Revision crowd.
I tried to submit a paintover compo, but either it was just too shit (entirely possible) or I shouldn't have filled out the GEMA info drunk.

See you lot at Outline!

p.s. Does anyone know if there's a recording of the PC demo compo? I know Scenesat usually has full recordings; but I can't find one yet. I really want to see my birthday shoutout one more time; it was the best gift I've had in years.
That aside, what an amazing party this was once again! Despite some stress and stuff causing me to feel a bit under the weather, I had an absolutely amazing time again <3

As always there are way too many people to thank and mention. I may have to write a longer post about that at a later time when my mind is a bit more clear ^^

Open a Pouet topic (in a few days - let the orgas rise from the dead first), otherwise it gets lost in the other discussions.

I might do that, if I remember.

Yes, the vegetarian stand had nice food. But did it cost like 5 euros instead of 7, i would have eaten more. ;-)

Agreed. AFAIK (little) the technical gap between ZX81 and Amiga OCS it at least by a magnitude larger than between OCS and AGA. No?

But no matter how you tailor the compos, you will always find borderline cases. I am coding for the Atari 2600, so I got used to almost always compete against much more sophisticated platforms. :)

Also there were just 5 entries in the Oldskool 4K Intro compo, two being Amiga. So without them the compo would have been on the edge.

Normal PAL is 50 fields with 312.5 raster lines each (the .5 results in the next frame beginning a little lower -> boom, interlacing). C64 et al keep the horizontal frequency of 15625Hz but output only 312 lines, omitting the last half one.

Even worse for the Atari 2600. There the developer has to generate the frame rate by himself. So he can choose how close he wants to stay to the standard. If he needs a few more offscreen cycles for calculation or wants a bigger display, he increases the scan lines a bit. If he wants less flicker he looks for less scan lines.

Analog TVs usually have no problem with +/-10% lines, but modern equipment frequently fails. That's one reason why people keep their old CRTs. The other one is, that the result it looks better and more faithful on those (true for most other oldskool platforms too).

For a compo the best you can hope for is a display that comes close.

@Revision Team: Is it possible to upload the »media facade«-entries to scene.org too?

BTW, did DICE forget to bring more sweets or why were only some goodie bags filled with the usual stuff? ;)
@Daga: I think the sweets have to go to make space for the water. :o) Next year I want revision-branded apples too. Because fruits are better than sweets. :o)

gaspode: Last year's bags had both (IIRC) and this year only some of them apparently contained sweets. Not complaining, just wondering. :)
Saga: They didn't send that much candy this time.

I thought the kissing compo lip balm from dice was hilarious :)

Thanks to all the orga's and ppl i chatted to, party was great!
@Revision Team: Why are not all compos listed in the results? Media Facade is missing.

Interesting: Same-named demos seems to be the new trend at Revision. Two years ago it was »Turtles All The Way Down«, this year it is »Mole«. :o)

Thanks for a great party. Haven't had this much fun at a demoparty since the first Revision I think.. soo good! <3<3<3<3

HANSVERBOT!

JTZ: Pretty sure that's because the results are automatically generated in Partymeister. The Media Facade compo wasn't voted on by the crowd, and there was only a winner, no ranking.
great party as usual ^^ the only thing I have never understood is what there is no "demoshow" during the party. big screen big sound... only seen fairliht and still demo..and that's all...it's a shame not to take advantage of the screen for a "demoshow"...

there's stuff going on all the time :)

I second ntsc - I think 2013(?) there was 1 hour or so demoshow, which I enjoyed immensely. Same at Evoke.

Got safely back home to the UK last night, as I guess did other UK sceners who are still based within the country :)

Revision 2015 was an excellent party. Nice friendly atmosphere and it was good to catch up with people too, along with watching / listening to the compo entries.

One thing slightly sucked though - not sure who the sceners were that had the big audio stack setup in the hall towards the left side near the back - but their music was rather loud at times and it got a bit difficult to concentrate on stuff. Yes, I know, the big screen audio was loud as well but, unlike the ppl with the stack system, it wasn't distorted. Just a minor point.

We'll be back - I think Revision 2015 was quite a record in terms of UK scener appearances too - it was cool to gather together at the photo booth, even if the pictures produced were a little haphazard :) Besides, if nothing else, my wife wants to visit the C&A store in central Saarbrucken again :)

Wasn't that just the demoshow for Saarbrücken residents, i.e. just like this year at Sunday noon?

But yes, generally it would be really cool to have a proper demoshow at Revision too. If the timetable doesn't allow for it, I'd rather have a "best of $previousYear" demoshow than a live act, to be honest.
