Anyone into Chinese/Japanese calligraphy?
category: general [glöplog]
Hi!
I recently started working on a production again and I'd need someone who has the skills to paint me two simple characters (and maybe more, but two are definitely needed) for a demo project. I would love them to be as authentic as possible, and while I can write hanzi just fine, my writing lacks all character. Anyone interested? :)

Loaderror/Ephidrena lives in Shanghai, perhaps you could ask him?
I actually have one of these chinese calligraphy practice sets (where you paint with water on a piece of cloth) and would love to be able to help. If anything fails I also have a chinese girl. I don't know if the brush size and style you can acquire with it is adequate enough, though.
Which characters do you need?

Splendid! Send me an e-mail at martti.nurmikari@iki.fi and we can discuss it :)
I'm happy to help.
Been a while since I've painted kanji but I've got the ink, brushes and paper. A fluent speaker may do better than me tho - nihongoni, joosu dewanai!

I can write Japanese, but I'm not good at calligraphy.

Nice, arabic calligraphy is also dope. I love calligraphy of all kinds!
That Japanese writing is certainly cleaner than what many Japanese people write :P

so do I, prefereably my mother tongue in Kurrent
Anyone interested in helping me out with this, please send me an e-mail :) I like to keep the project under wraps for now...
Also, ringo: it would be really ace to have you participate in an actual demo project.

dodge: Hah, you learnd sütterlin? I once learned it, too and wrote random novel pages to practice. xD Is that a sample of you? Looks very nice.
I can write retarded Chinese.
@elend: 谢谢, it's actually "deutsche Kurrent", the handwriting Sütterlin based his school-script on early 20th century.
Yes, it's a (poor) sample of mine without any proper paper lining, that's why the small letters are bouncing around so much.
Properly applied it looks great on greeting cards ... English Script is so overrated :P

Not Japanese, nor Chinese, but certainly has character:
