Could we have time- and datestamps on the bbs posts and possibly prod comments? Would be very nice for future reference.

timestamp on the prod comments? what for? The layout would be even more overloaded, there is already way too much data on that page imo :)

layout is not a problem - just take out the grammatically incorrect "the" after "added on", freeing up space for the timestamp (hh:mm).

hh:mm on bbs sounds reasonable, on prods not really.

why is the timestamp important? isn't a datestamp + the chronologic listing enough?

It's the same why some people use a timestamp with seconds in IRC, they want to know the responce time. Would be cool at some prods, for example the fairlight thingy from last month where about 60 people commented within 10 hours, pretty much for a non-bigparty release if you ask me.

I remember adding a prod and making my comment immediately after, but became only second commenter. That was pretty strange for me because it was for about one or two minutes online...

Editing functionality on older posts on forums is definately one of the worst ideas ever. It can really fuck up discussions if people post-edit posts on which other's already have replied. If you are not satisfied with what you posted then simply add another post where you explain what was wrong or where you apologize for your behaviour :-)

If there really has to be some sort of post-editing than there should also be some sort of history functionality as well so that people can see how and when the post was modified.

Editing posts makes only sense for one thing: fix bb-code and layout fuckups.

you know, there should be one step between the writing of the post and the submitting the post.

for instance, johnny writes the post and clicks on a button called "preview". then, johnny sees in the preview that the he forgot a "/" in the url and the picture is too big. so johnny makes the necessary changes and then he clicks the"submit" button, and everyone is happy - yes, including ps.
