I think, they are paid, because they seem to be within the limitations of his $5 deal. If they were private, he would have said a lot more words.

You're all missing the most important thing: Rog's kickstarter campaign can TOTALLY BE A REAL THING now.

A talking head on a static background will compress really well, so say 6 hours on a DVD = 720 reviews, at $5 each = $3600. Easy.
