Searching for Amiga music module

category: general [glöplog]

At some point when I owned an Amiga 500, I came across this excellent music module that had quite a great tune and someone saying "Amiga! Power!" quite aggressively as a sample in it. I first heard it around 1991-1992, long before I got my A1200, but I thought it was a great module and I'd like to find it again.

The problem is, Google returns Amiga Power Magazine (it MAY have been a promo for that, not sure) or some other mod with the name "Amiga Power" (it was definitely not that one). The thing is, I have no idea what the mod was named.

If anyone can help me find this module, I'd be grateful.

No, this is the more recent one that I already mentioned, but it isn't the one. It seems to have been made in 1999 as well, long after I ditched the A1200.

Sorry.

The one I'm after was a vastly different type of music and as I said the voice was aggressive. It was also a male voice, sorry if I didn't mention that before.

Yes, this is it!

But now I have another problem: how to play it!

It claims to be a .med file but OctaMED 4.0 will refuse to play it, nor will OctaMED 6+ from 1997! I'm sure it was an 8-channel mod, but WTF is with that when OctaMED will refuse to play one of it's own files?!!

I have Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, and trying DeliPlayer didn't help, as all the audio is silent on one side! GRR!

Anyone know how to get this to play? It's such a pain dealing with old files!

It's an MMD3 file. No idea which exact versions of OctaMED support this particular version of the file format. But OpenMPTwill open it, and it sounds pretty much alright (despite its usual lack of accurace when it comes to more complicated MED files). OpenMPT's playback engine also comes as a plugin in multiple flavours for your favourite audio player (currently XMPlay, FB2k and Winamp, still in experimental status).
Plays fine in OpenMPT , it is a 4ch module btw :)
I remember this tune from waaaay back, wow ...

Oh by the way, I had the same problem with deliplayer in win7, IIRC one of the older versions should work fine however, if you can find it.

Tried the .med with the OpenMPT on WinAmp and it sounds musically fine, although I'm certain in the middle bit (based on my memory) it's missing a couple of sample triggers, namely vocals. But that could just be my imagination.

At least it works.

I think it was included with a coverdisk version of OctaMED 3.0. I booted up WinUAE and used Hippoplayer to listen to it.

Heh, I still have the actual coverdisk with it on..

CU Amiga issue 36: ADF file

I remember now, THAT'S where I got it from!

I used to buy CU Amiga monthly in the early 1990s, and seeing that coverdisk really brought it all back!

What's ironic is that in the last few years, I have gone through a lot of CU Amiga and Amiga Computing coverdisks (from a website called "Amiga Magazine Rack") and recording all the favourite tunes I liked from those, in WinUAE, to turn into MP3s, and it was right there all the time! Baffling how I missed it!

I do remember, however, that OctaMED was released and that the song was a demo for it, and I remember the little red Amiganuts mascot popping up and pulling on his ears or whatever they are.

In any case, THANK YOU ALL! The song is as great as it ever was, and I remember exactly how it played now.

More like "Amigas!" "Power!"

Wonder why they would cut off the nuts part? (no pun intended)
