Open sourcing pouet.net ?

mog: Thought of that as well... but not sure if it would actually increase or even decrease the amount of "proper" feedback. And would people even bother to just vote without a "reward"? It could solve the selfvote-issue though, that certainly needs to be tackled.
the way I see it:
thumbs down == I don't like it
thumbs down != I hate you
do we really have to give lengthy explanations always?

psonice/gaspode: Oh, right :) Didn't see that until now - must have been published while I wrote my own thing and then I didn't see it while scrolling back, sorry. :)
ham: comments _can_ be a good thing -- and mostly they are, but I wouldn't say that "comments > votes" all the time. For example: comments needs to be parsed, while votes are easily understood and can be displayed in a different way on another area of the site.

Which is a matter of manors, or are you going to your grandma with flowers and telling her how much you rule for doing so?
It's a nice indicator for arseholes, and bottled motion blur shenanigans.
How about fixing more important things like the encoding first? I want to see trucks name like it's supposed to show up..

@mog: Of cause cherri can have his opinion about umtse-umtse-music and black backgrounds an whatever else. But there is a difference between having an opinion or having an opinion and downvote every prod because of that.
But perhaps I’m just not the type of person who downvotes a lot, because I think that downvoting is a little bit like a kick in the arse for the creator of whatever. if you have a problem with a prod giving constructive criticism is so much better than saying »don't like« or »black background«. I don't like the permanent umtse-umtse-music in the scene, too. But I appreciate people making demos, so why should I dislike their prods?

gaspode: you just defined the two different kind of users on Pouet. :)
@Gloom: Of, there are only two? ;o)
@gaspode: do you think it's because it's binary and called "sucks" vs "rulez"? would 1 out of 5 stars sound like "I kick you in the arse" to your ears?
@g: perhaps.

this is appearently a very good idea!
funny, there's plenty of interest in moving away from the old 'rulez or sucks' voting for demos. Maybe we should go the other way, keep it, and have "lamer or elite" voting for people :)
That's not the point, but some people use the voting as a "seen it" indicator - why not support that? :X
I stopped reading this thread pages ago because it sucked, but is this ugly blue bar on top of the page yalls doin?
Oh, nevermind, i had to force refresh or smth.
Carry on derping about open source!

mog: i was joking. We'd end up back in the early 90s, where stuff either ruled or sucked, and there were only lamers and elites, and there were massive scene wars. That doesn't happen nowadays. *tries to forget last 46 pages of this thread*
The "seen it" indicator is true though, i often do that myself.

Keep the "sucks" voting but autoban anyone who uses it! That way we can make sure noone's feelings get hurt and everything is fuzzywuzzy.
I think we should keep the sucks button too. I'd rather make something that's hated than drowns in a sea of indifference.
meh
They don't hate your prods. They hate themselves and want to feel better by pointing out flaws in your prods that they are actually quite indifferent to.
I wasn't indifferent to that one, it was really disappointing and made me sad. Wouldn't say I hated it though. But I do hate you, mog.

AUTOBAHN ANYONE!
Thanks for pointing out, Bombe! An Autobahn-feature would be great! <3

But I do hate you, mog.
And the reason is that we disagree?
mog: must be because you're black! :P
