The 16k limit doesn't prevent me from entering. It just prevent me from creating an entry as good as the one I'd be able to do was the limit 32k. As stated elsewhere, I don't think the 16k limit prevents packed mods from being entered, I just think they'll be of poorer quality than if the 32k.
A couple of years back, all exe-music compos were 16k, but at some point, they all started moving to 32k. Even as pleasing a development this is in the light of our synth's size, we absolutely had nothing to do with that. I don't know what caused this shift in limits, but perhaps it would be fun to hear some of the other organizers around, why they eventually decided to go from 16 to 32k.
Bottom line - I'm not gonna let you enjoy the silence no matter how low you put your limit, I've got plenty of amunition in my quiver :-p

I agree with kusma. Shadertoy is fun - but a compo??
I think its okay that the barrier to entry are lowered a little, since it allows the noobs to enter. If there are any that might consider joining the scene, perhaps this is a way in? Of course doing a shadertoy-entry is not as cool as doing everything from scratch yourself, and everyone knows that - so I would vote accordingly, and go more for artistic expression than technical skill of execution.
