Revision 2013
category: parties [glöplog]
No, I didn't mean the folks who hold the event (any event playing music) but the artist who agreed to a specified contract with GEMA. If GEMA doesn't honour this agreement - even if they might argue to act in the best interest of the artist - they more or less violated the damn contract. And since this is the lunatic asylum called society the appropriate action would be to sue the heck outta them.
d0Dge:
D.Fox is right. All Songs, even this songs, you haven't written yet, are registered by the gema. With signing a contract by the gema you give away all your rights of each composition even the compositions you haven't wrote yet. You could say, you give them your musical ideas of the future. Means, it can not be, that a friend of you have excluded this options in his contract.
BUT!
If you only do the production and some other wrote the melodies which is NOT member of the gema, means: he's listed as "lyrics and music written by", the gema can make no claim. And this could also fixed in writing.

Let's all think about something nice for a change.
Aaah!
Aaah!
D.Fox.. What is that? The "certificate" for a compo winner ? :)
It just illustrates how much power simple sheets of paper can have :)
daXX: it's an envelope with a Subway coupon and a piece of paper saying "your platform is dead, get over it already!"
Even if you would be right, thinking that it would be possible to win in court against an organisation as powerfull as GEMA with their lobbying power and all is very naive.
JuvenileShithead:
There's no need to win in court. Rights are valid for everyone. Even for a powerfull organisation and especialy when they did this rules... I'm not naiv in thinking getting rights.
But you do not change anything, when you try nothing...
Gargaj: Whatever you mean with that...

Hey guys, I'm wondering about the PC compo machine. The specs state it's a 670GTX which according to some benchmarks is slower than a 580GTX (which was used last year). Granted the 670GTX has a greater memory bandwidth but this is not much use for demo scene productions. Anyone running a 670 and can put my mind to ease that our prod will run decently on the compo machine? :) Thanks!
Everybody will see them on Youtube anyway :)
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
there's some chance that my flight may get cancelled :'(

moar on easter
Small update on the timetable. Since it's quite difficult to time so many competitions to the minute, we've decided to put them into compo-blocks again.
Basically a compo block starts at the given time and all compos in that block are played in sequence (with the occasional 5 minute break or something).

Dfox: Any concert(s) and/or seminars this year? Current time table says no..
I believe it was previously stated, that times for seminars and concerts will be published separately.
I think Compos an bloc are cool. But the infodesk will have even more concentrated bursts in the short compo breaks. However, a tree-guy beverage delivery workflow will need practice like a Feuerwehrübung.
Compos can be adjusted to beer-refill-situation :)
