Forever 2013
category: parties [glöplog]
Hi all!
As time is ticking and the new party website sucks a lot, I decided to open a thread here for people who want to come to this year's Forever party.
At first a short sumary:
- date is 15.3.2013 - 17.3.2013
- place is Horna Suca (village near Trencin)
- entrance is 13 Euro
- platforms are strictly 8bit only
The main competitions are:
- music
- graphics
- 1K intro
- demo
- wildcompo
- presentations
- realtime coding
Main platforms are Atari, C64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and if you bring your own one it can be shown on the bigscreen too (there will be PulkoMandy for Thompson scene, I am there with Sam Coupe, RM Team with PMD85 and I am sure even more people with more platforms).
Now a bit about travelling to the partyplace:
- travelling from abroad usually mean to end in Bratislava (train and bus corridor). From Bratislava it's very easy to take bus or train (trains go every 2 hours, buses can be checked on demand if anyone need, just ask me) to Trencin. It take usually 1,5 hour. From Trencin you have to take bus, it is platform 8 (you have to cross the road). When you will get out of the bus at the first stop in Horna Suca, just go left on the crossing and in about 5 or 10 minutes you are at the party place.
- people from Poland go throught Zilina, rest is the same! :)
If you need more info or to know the prices, just ask.
Party is nonstop, as always, there will be some sleeping rooms available, but it is unknown how much of them yet.
And last thing, I am no more in organisation team, I just like the party to happen, so this is my own initiative.
Hope to see you in March!

what exactly is the "realtime coding" compo supposed to look like? =)
well, I wrote it wrong, it is just realtime, anything you do - gfx, msx, code on the partyplace, usually connected with the party theme (elvis lives this year).
where to send intros? is online submission available, Elvis?
I had a look at the official Forever page, looking for a forum or message board but there was none, so I place my question here. Why have compos for each platform seperately? Since it's an 8bits party, it should also have common competitions, like "best 8bit demo", "best 8bit intro", best 8bit gfx/sound" etc, regadless they are on Atari 8, or C64, or Amstrad or Speccy?
Why not make it a challenge between machines and sceners at the same time? I suppose this would be much more interesting for the people participating and much more fun for the visitors.

well, the contacts are:
C64 contributions creamd (at) c64.sk
atari contributions xi (at) napri.sk
ZX and CPC contributions mike (at) zeroteam.sk
Other platforms are welcome too, of course, but we will have to find someone with the hardware.
As for the separated platforms during compos, interesting question :) We've been not thinking about just one global competitions for all platforms during the past. Anyway, for last 3 or so years, there is Ethernity prize which is given to the best or most interesting production on the party.

It's Thomson, not Thompson :)
Anyway :
Thomson contributions pulkomandy (at) pulkomandy.tk (no, not sk!)
See you there !

ups, sorry for mistake! :)
Yes, the new Forever site sucks. And there's no msg board anymore. Anyway, good to see this thread at least, ellvis. Btw. WoS now hosts Slovak atari scene? :)
heh, ok, nothing to say, the quality sell itself...
A small update, if anyone from the people going to Forever 14 want to reserve a bed, please, drop me a line at ellvis(at)zeroteam.sk.
@ellvis: wait! what you're saying that hostel has a limited amount of beds? when is the last when you need to know for a reservation?
Someone forget to put the link to the invitation intro here: http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=61045

bonefish: you can make a reservation and cancel it if it will be not needed, so drop me a line just to be sure!
@ellvis: email sent to you and mike.
Watch our pre-party channel at http://www.forever-party.net where we present videos of random works from previous Forever years! Each day a year up :)
Today: Year 2002

I noticed there are no compo rules on the website this year. Are we supposed to remember all the constraints from previous years ? Or is there only a wild compo with no rules ?
or, even better, there is a compo with no rules, and it's going to be wild! :)))
Anyway, rules pages from last year :
http://forever-party.net/cpc.htm
http://forever-party.net/zx.htm
http://forever-party.net/atari.htm
And extra info from the organizers: this year there will be separate "other 8bit" and "wild/animation" compos. I hope to see your prods there !

PulkoMandy: Error 404 three times!
The party rules are being added to the main (new) site right now. They are changed a little, buttons with links to specific platform rules will be added later.
News? IRC Channels? Live streams?
Someone... anyone... tell us something! :]

Don't expect anything... Forever has traditionally been an offline event.
(They must have *some* kind of internet connection this time because they accepted remote entries for the realtime compo, but I strongly suspect it's one person with a 3G modem :-) )
