vice issues

Greetings, this is mostly a sound issue but well...
lately i decided to upgrade from vice 2.2 to 2.4. on windows. Problem is that i'm facing sound distortion issues aka some sids on some demos sound slightly distorted (yet this distortion is very annoying) compared to their original sound in v2.2. took a look at the sid and sound settings but on both versions they seem to be the same (sid model 6581 resid, sid filters on, fast residing sample method) . i'd like to know if anyone else faced something similar to this and how you managed to fix it?

I am a bit lost with all those options for Sid model. I had problems with demos playing digitized sound, some noise and whistling, but solved by choosing one of the other Sid models, randomly cause I don't know what each of them means and which is the default for proper sound.
Under Sound settings try:
Sound Buffer Size : 100msec or less is ideal for good visual sync, otherwise larger if the sound starts breaking up.
Sound Fragment Size : Large
Synchronization Method : Exact
Under SID settings the reSID-fp presets are the most accurate and recommended. They take the most CPU time but I'm running a 2007-era machine with no problems.
