PouëtCochon - demo downloader/organizer/viewer tool for Firefox
category: general [glöplog]
http://pouetcochon.googlecode.com/files/pouetcochon-1.1.xpi with minor fixes.
Do the fixes include "Runs on chrome?" ;)
i believe that's a feature request.
maybe
could do something about it.

Not me, I'm doing $stuff already. If I'll be ending up doing it, I'd just kill the motivation off the hundreds of hordes already working on the port.
Garg, unix-type fs?
I ask 1st cause it's gonna take me a lot to switch back to swiftfox on the lappy.

Should work. It works on Mac at least. Give it a shot.
now available on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pouetcochon/ for your automatic update pleasure.
(of course it needs 10 days for a review, so it doesnt autoupdate yet BUT OH WELL)
Please, port it to opera :3

^ Oh man, stealing Garg's thunder.
On Windows, it seems to fail at saving download URLs with query sections, assumedly because of the filesystem blatantly refusing to name a file with a questionmark in it.

Try saving to a different location.
hmm, i guess i am just blind, but somehow i dont get this:
it´s just rightclicking the background to get the normal context-menu, aint it? no "PouetCochon settings..." there for me?!
i really cant use C:/ for that (its an SSD with just enuff space to hold Win7 and some mandatory stuff, so the rest of the SSD is available for VMs residing on an other Partition)
anyone else having this problem?
but good job, thanks for doing it, Garg!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GARGAJ!
Zao: yeah I know, I still haven't figured out entirely how to handle redirects - but of course patches are welcome :)
Hardy: no, Tools menu on the top.
alright, got it, had to re-enable the menuBar first ;) no wonder i didnt see it!
nice. that comes in so handy. great idea, and it's working perfect so far. best thing is auto-play :D
i actually sent it to review for mozilla and when it passed, the comment field had "Amiga rulez ;-)"
And that's why I never use Mozilla - they can't even get their facts straight :P
So since Firefox deprecated addons and I could never get it to work on Chrome, I thought about it and changed my approach:
Currently these are two tiny Firefox/Chrome plugins (with the new WebExtension API), a custom URL scheme, and a native app written in C# (i.e. Mono-runnable on W32/OSX/Unix) you have to run once.
The upside is that this way the app would be able to not only download stuff from Pouet and unpack ZIPs, but
- download from (through) Demozoo, CSDB, whereever
- unpack RAR, LHA, 7z, anything that has C# bindings
- launch emulators or video players depending on the platform
Another fun upside to it being a native app is that when you don't launch it with a specific prod in mind, it could list you the latest prods from Pouet and Demozoo, like the front page of Steam or something.
So yeah, Steam for demos, kinda.
Now I just need to think of a cool name.
