This is an estimation of mine. If you compare the number of party visitors to German and Finnish demo parties: Germany has 80 million inhabitants, Finland has 5 million. But the number of visitors to German demo parties is only about the same as in Finland.
Breakpoint (Germany) had roughly 800 - 1000 visitors per year (as far as I remember from reading party reports).
Evoke (Germany) has roughly 400 visitors per year (source: Wikipedia).
Assembly (Finland) has more than 1000 visitors per year. If you argue "that's 80% gamers", well, then 200 sceners remain. This is out of proportion compared to the German parties. A German party would need to have more than 2000 visitors.
Aside from this statement I am again and again shocked at what responses you get here at pouet to serious contributions. You would think some people come from a slum.

seriously, scene is dying, and that's it already...
@adok: please take average wages (now and then) and booking prices for planes into your calculation. and consider birth rates, working times, tv program, platforms 2 country (distribution of different computers in european countries and their actual "scene size"), overseas scenes compared to their masculinity level, average age of population, etc, etc, etc. that will give other results. and then face that you are still missing dozens of possible reasons...
I don't mean this serious, I just want to keep you occupied and away from pouët. finally: go and read some spiderman comics...
