Assembly did release the demos right after the compos here:

http://archive.assembly.org/2012

One laptop with teh internets and a connection to the big screen and you have all the demos as videos right at hand.

D.Fox: read again what I wrote. If we get the Tricaster again it's a matter of a few mouse clicks anyway. Who needs iPads. :)

kb: i meant for the guys who do the compostudio :)

D.Fox: Yeah, I meant them, too. With a few minutes of preparation ZoLO (or a second operator sitting next to him) can just throw the demo that's being discussed on the screen behind them. Or, actually, anything that happened at Revision before. :)

kb: but that would require that ZoLO or the people in question would need to be sober... and we know the chance of that happening ;)

Compared to the chance that we have good h.264 captures of all demos right after the compo, you mean? :P

that word..... "sober".... what does it mean?

I see your point there... :)

Yes, that would be near the way we would do it. As a director, though, I'm not content with the idea that the guests are able to see the demos. I want the audience to see what they're watching as well. So I need to be able to cut to that feed, be the source a studio laptop or a separate demo computer with a dedicated operator. In any case, this source needs to be connected to our broadcast unit along with the cameras. It needs some planning but should be doable.

Had fun in the graphics compo studio, even if I do now dread a bit that what I actually said. :) (I'm the blond guy.) I was also asked to, but didn't participate, in the 1k compo studio because I had my own prod there and I very probably couldn't have been impartial enough. The only small trouble was that I had to stretch my neck a bit to actually see what was on the screen, but even that was just a small problem.

I'll have to say that I was slightly disappointed at the main demo compo this year, but I guess you cannot have as mindblowing experiences as last year. Also actually getting a prod on the screen was a pretty good motivator to actually start making more demos - perhaps I'll expand a bit on the platforms and sizes :)

luuk: Seems we're going to try it at Revision so feel free to learn from our inevitable screwups ;)

Regarding compos, I wish we could hear the crowd live reaction.

@Zavie: You usually get to hear the audience reactions if you have our SceneSat stream running (audio and - when we have it - video), since we try to mix that in... ...as much as possible, at least. :)

It was, but I think the discussion here is about the crowd reactions while the entries are running.

Great, just after I spend half a day downloading this 3 GB thing :D
48:00 = best part of the show.
I wouldn't say the download was a waste -- after all, someone needs to edit together the clip version of the show where Matt wins everything.
