pouet - new platforms
category: general [glöplog]
Better, but that shade of red is too dark imho. Kinda melts with the gray frame. :)
better ?
Another take at the Android platform icon:
i like the current Android icon, but i really love your Raspberry icon =)
no gfx/music on pouet please, have some patience for demozoo launch.

... how many times I heard that about everything :)

I think Artcity does beautifully for graphics, not sure about music to be honest; I suppose nectarine/bitjam could somehow allow people to actually listen to tunes.

Simple: People must provide more download links instead of just uploading stuff without any information on format, source, etc...
saga: but the files are already on the server, so why not allow some level of listening?
Gargaj: Problem is, generally allowing all files on Nectarine to be downloaded wouldn't be possible because authors didn't agree on spreading their tracks through nectarine and there is actually a lot of stuff from demoscene CDs, game CD soundtracks and the like, which would get us in trouble. However, artists can make their tunes downloadable (for logged in users only, I think, but I'm not 100% sure) by setting one of the CC licenses on their profile or for individual songs.
saga: compo tunes, however... (given that they went through the whole compo rule agreement shenanigan)
Wouldn't it make sense to organize platforms through categories (computer/console/hand-held, 8/16/32bits...)?
Gargaj: Yeah, but then again someone would have to set the correct license for these tunes (ok, you can use tags like "compowinner" to kind of automate that, but that's still not all compo tunes), and it would be much nicer if this someone was the individual artists...
saga: the idea is that pouet is great for "executable" stuff (wilds included), artcity is great for graphics, but there's no real "click and list compo stuff" site for music.
zavie: what's the upside?

Something halfway between having a common ground for all the "that exotic 8 bits platform there were three demos made for" and having oldschool/newschool like categories.
All in all, prod browsing made easier.

Gargaj, I hear you and I'd love to change things, but it won't be that easy. :\
Zavie: That should be solved by implementing tags.
Tomoya: true, but also hold true for platform an size in general. :)
zavie: i dont see how that would make prod browsing easier though.
will the demozoo include parties/results like pouet (just with all of them) or do we have to look for the prods via group/scener who did it?
wysiwtf: err, dude, you DO have beta access, so why would you just not check if you wonder about anything? :) Also, not sure what you're asking exactly...
I was not gonna weigh in on the whole Demozoo thing here - since it is totally offtopic and I'm sure Gargaj would want this thread to be about the topic at hand - but I see that there's a lot of questions. I'll open a thread on Pouet this evening, where everyone is free to ask away, and then this thread can be about the platforms again, ok? :)

menace: now that you say it... i even might have the account details somewhere still =)
menace: let me venture a guess and say that wysiwtf is perhaps not the most dedicated beta tester around. :)
Having the things (code, visual, audio) on three different sites is not necessarily a bad thing. What I think is missing is some kind of cross site "play lists" that would allow you from pouet to get a list of all the tunes used in a demo existing on Nectarine, and some links toward the graphics on Art City, and having both Art City and Nectaring play the same game so technically you can navigate between the three sites to enjoy the various components of great prods :)
(And thanks Gargaj for the link with breakdown per platform, it's kind of weird to see that the Oric has as many prods as the Atari TT 030 and more than the Jaguar, Playstation II, Wii, ...)
