music and beer.

Snipping Tool won't help you with scrollbar'ed windows. Then you need SnagIt, which is a annoying bloatware, but works quite well. :)

SnagIt, PumpIt, TwistIt, RamIt, SqueezeIt, WhackIt, FunkIt, JackIt, useless maaaaaannnn...

Must have would be:

Editor
Compiler

Would want to have:

VisualStudio
SVN
MSDN
Google (to check for info and if it has already been written by somebody else).

- editor+compiler+debugger or IDE
- a web browser and a working Internet connection
- some scripting language (you always need some kind of script to do non-trivial stuff for you)
- a GNU or BSD userland for ls, grep, sed, awk, cut, tr, find, du and friends
- some decent hex editor or at least viewer
- some kind of version control

If I have to use windows one of the first things I install is qdir
Srsly, free, ftp all the file managemnt and oh, uh did I mention free and regularly updated...?

And (sorry to bang on) but mc shits on all of them. From a great height.

Sorry about that ^
It comes across as a bit rant-ish and that wasn't the intention.
mc is still the kick-assest file-manager that there is tho!

how about plugin based infrastructure, proper directory synchronizing, proper compare by content, convenient shortcuts (like directory bookmarking or previously visited directories or even basic stuff like rename or create new file), and an actual convenient no-frills gui?

midnight commander isnt bad but tell me when they fixed it so you can fix a typo in a filename with F6 without having to type the whole filename again or when you can go back to the previous (not parent!) directory with a single keystroke.
