We don't know who it was, but someone sure did what I described above (shockingly, we have logs of votes and we can see the account-ages of SceneIDs used to vote -- marvels of modern technology! :), and while we don't know who were behind it, it was being done.

Now -- one could argue that naming an intro "We Have Accidently Borrowed Your Votedisk" and releasing it at the same weekend as the Scene.org Awards ceremony was incidental, and for all we know it was, but it did make us take a second look at the votes, yes. :)

I am not sure I follow you, are you talking about that popularitypushing incident here on pouet that saga musix mentioned or are you talking about a new -fake user on scene awards incident- that you decide to tell us about first now? and then you say you are not accusing us?

As for the rulechange: it came about because it was clear that while the intention of the "Public Choice"-category is, and has always been, for the demoscene audience to list their favourite prods, we are indeed faced with the "problem" of social media and the simple fact that the Scene.org Awards are no longer a small thing where just sceners participate. This in and of itself is not really a problem (in fact, one could argue otherwise), but it was clearly not set up to mean that the person or team with the most friends _on the internet_, should win.

After the issues of last years public voting, the awards crew had a long discussion about what to do and how to counteract possible issues. In the end, it was agreed not to change anything (weighting of votes, filtering or any automated mechanism, apart from the removal of votes from fakeusers) but instead make it clear in the voting guidelines what is considered to be acceptable voting behavior. Clearly someone felt this hit them harder than others, and well -- that's probably their problem.

Dubmood: I'm talking about Scene.org Awards voting, last year, in which botnets and fakeusers were used to try to manipulate the votes. As I just posted, this is the reason why the clarification in the voting guidelines were published this year.

I must admit I have never followed the scene awards or this "nordic conspiricy" discussion before, I have had alot of other stuff on my mind, but who exactly are the scene awards crew and the jury? is there a webpage where I can read up on this?

The voting guidelines were published when the Public Choice-category voting was opened. I hardly think that qualifies as "strange".

I admit Razor has some merit in what turned out to be the rules for the public choice voting for this year. To verify the results we checked the votes for the first round and all productions were nominated legitimately. We can't and even don't want to change how the public votes for, but naturally we reserve in turn the right to choose the voting rules for the Scene.org Awards as we wish. If you're unsure about the voting rules, please read them carefully on the Scene.org Awards website. The same rules apply also for the ongoing voting round.

As there's no reason for excluding any entries from the Public Choice category the nominees stay as they are.

Well, to be clear about the "We have successfully borrowed your votedisk" name I choosed, it's NOT about stolen votes for TODAY's prods. I found the idea from things I have seen FOR REAL at The Party 5. I will not give any name here, but I have seen "people" borrowing votedisks to gamers (something like 50 or more) and used all of them to vote for their own release.

So, there no relation between our prod title and what has happened (or didn't happened in this case).

For fuck sake, and really ffs. There is a very big difference between namevoting and cheating. If you dont know that difference, maybe you count among those who havnt had there sceneID for enough time to merit the right to vote, you dont seem to be an elite underground demoscener. oh wait, you are in the jury....
