The thing particular that makes your computer being yours.

The sound my fan makes.
Computer name: Shaikur, Laptop name: Dunmora, Domain and WIFI name: Fiara. Too bad that JoWooD got broke before sf2:fid was finished.
I dunno. I don't think I can narrow it down to one single thing, it's more the symbiosis of how we work together is what makes it "my" computer.
everyone else touching it dies.
the name of it. the password to get into. the usual software installed. the desktop. the way i use it. and not to forget the lil dirt on the keyboard.
maybe i should scratch my name on the case to make it really mine? :D

the huge mess with files everywhere... (and not just any regular mess, but my mess...)
Whimp. It should be c:\users\bla\Desktop\HARDCORE_PORNOGRAPHY ;)
Mini-hdmi to hdmi on the graphics card incompatible with the shape of the cabinet.
Have to reboot atleast 2 times before Win7 pops up.
USB3 cables sticking out of the waterpump holes on the cabinet.
Indestructable keyboard, been smashed by a psycho (not me) 2 times and still works (sidewinder).

my custom desktop :)
Looking forward to perform this mod on my new laptop too. Reckon that one will even have the mac style glow in it ;)
.. and read more about the above mod here
arch linux distribution built from the bottom with customized-to-death mouseless window manager means i can leave the computer logged in as root out in the open without worrying about anyone ever managing to do anything with it.
1) I can't hear you over the sound of my laptop fan.
2) The fact I rounded off an internal screw while trying to clean out said internal fan.

* GRUB bootloader, default OS is ArchLinux
* Typical desktop is bare grey, no icons, nothing. 32 pixel thick bar with name of the opened windows, a clock and workspace name. But antialiased fonts.

1) it has more fans than a windmill park (hence i named him Airwolf)
2) on boot it tests all fans on full, making more sound than a Boeing 747 taking off
3) it contains more dust on the inside than an ancient ruin
4) it has this constant weird hummmm and random *BZZZT-KRK* sounds that makes me think it's still a miracle it hasnt broken down yet
5) warm air comes out of the front, so it's excellent when you have cold feet!

6) when doing heavy cpu activities for a while, after 10 minutes it starts to smell like hot dogs
I used to have a machine which only started when I first blew it with a hair dryer for about 10-20 minutes. Instead of it's power button were two wires...
Just a few days ago bought a new case to replace the 8yr old one made my computer lose a lot of it's "personality" :(
Systems are getting too good, some of my previous rigs required effort to use them, such as re-seating the AGP card by hitting the case gently at a right spot (some sort of an case/mobo design flaw that it never really seated properly).

maali has a machine...which can smell like street meat....forever...
My machine eats and drinks the same stuff than I do, especially the keyboard ;>
an old IBM (not a model M) keyboard which i painted pink-metallic...
and the fact that i need to hit on the case top while booting to get the harddrive spin right...
yeah i got backups of it :P

I have to reboot after I boot to make any keyboard work

Maali is winning.
I tend to find whichever machine I'm sitting in front of is mine - not many people seem to want to do their computing on my lap for some reason.
