I've should have some old unpublished stuff on C64 floppy, anyone willing to help me transferring those files to PC ?

I believe I used an X?1541 cable (I don't remember which one I built), Star Commander, an old Pentium II with DOS and a 1541 drive for transferring .d64 images onto real floppies, and I believe the same configuration may work for making a .d64 image from a floppy.

first you need a real 1541 floppy drive. there are a lot of ways to do. there are some hardware device for the C64 to copy ther Disk image on SD od MMC Card. like the SD2IEC, MMCReplay, MMC64, 1541Ultimate, Charmälion etc. some solutions are emulating a floppy on serial IEC port with SD Card, so its like copy from drive 8 to drive 9. or its a Cartridge and you have software tool for directory backup.

the cheaper way is build an Cable from the 1541 drive to the PCs Paralell port name ist XM1541 or XE1541 cost about 3€ if you solder/build yourself. Newest version is the XU1541 its the USB solution and it works with the new PCs . for more questions ask. :)

output the data with your breadbox, bit by bit as pixel on the screen, screengrab with pc videocard and decipher

Thanks for the info, especially Blacksheep, that was the information I was looking for. I was last checking these thing back in 90s and happy to see there are new ways to do the transfer :)

I dont know how the kryoflux exactly works, but i know that there some times are problem using a random 5,25" floppydrive instead of the Commodore drive.
its sold out and i dont know the price (oh i found, about 99 $) the solution with XU1541 cable is easy as the Kryoflux i think and ist costs about 20 $. this is the Easy plug-klick-joy way. but if there is an old PC with Paralell port you can use the XM1541 Cable (solder yourselfe 3 $ or buy in a shop 10$) and use "open CBM". with the names of the cables and Modules you now can feed google and find out everything :9

Sure, I would go for the cheap way, since I'm a poor and DIY guy.
The XM/XE1541 cable worked very well with my PII, and I would try it on newer PCs.
Thanks for the link of kyroflux, sometimes I need to read and write old sampler disks and this could be a nice - although expensive - solution.

There's also a lengthy discussion on the topic in this csdb thread. Although the methods discussed (capturing tape audio, capturing QR codes with a web cam etc.) are more "out there" and less practical than the usb cable, I guess.

I don't remember if I have 1541 anymore, two OC-188N drives should be in my storage. As far as I know it should be 100% compatible with 1541 never had issues back in 80s :)
