How is the typical demoscener
category: offtopic [glöplog]
Lets say i for some reason started to asking my self how is the typical demoscene addicted guy, what do you do, how do you live, those normal questions they do before sending us to jail (lol)
Let me start this:
I Am 15, 2nd grade, i have an afro (no, my avatar is a sheep), I (almost) have a girlfriend, loving demos since the first Digital Insanity keygen ( unreeeal super hero 3, nice work Rez and Kenet :3)
Your time bros.

How about you come to a demoparty and see for yourself?
Knoeki: May be hard to get to Europe when you're 15 and you live in Brazil.
But hopefully, soon there will be more demoscene action in there! :D

get some diskmags and read the interviews. you'll find out the average scener is about 30 and works in things related to the gamedev or creative industry.
Cool, I'm 15 too. Now I just have to do what you did and make a half-decent demo...
Blacksheep8Bit,
You should visit Artengine next year.
And yes, sceners are dying breed. We need more people like you Blacksheep8Bit.

I'm foreseeing this thread soon getting full of random images. :-)
@Blacksheep8Bit: try to go to a demoparty, really. It sure will be expensive because of the travel distance, but the risk of regretting it is close to zero. The experience itself will be massive, and you will get to talk with people who, when they're not partying, are professionals in the industry. Such an opportunity is priceless, especially since you are young and can get some valuable insights. And you can merge that with some holiday trip.
There are parties all year along in Europe, and if I recall correct, one or two a year in the US. Someone was talking about a party in Brazil too I think?

There is no such thing. Next. How is the typical demoscener
I'm the typical demoscener. Hi!
Skreb, ukulele says no ;-)
Gloom is the most typical demoscener imho.
okkie: according to the stats, the most typical (active) demoscener is 34+ years old and enjoys the hell out of anything on C64 and Atari ;)
wait, wtf is a scener?
for example: a scener is a fat drunken coder with beer stains on his clothes, potatochips crumbles on his chest, and shouts out loudly "Fuck!" every time he sees a bug.
Like this?
The typical demoscener is handsome and slim.
and does not say "no" to a cold beer :D
@Blacksheep8Bit: @party takes remote entries, and we're not the only one. Demodays (aka the party formerly known as Buenzli) also does. Also, there are some IRC channels . . .
And go to Art Engine! yes!
[ Also, some of us are not dudes. Well, I mean, I call everyone dude, but you know what I mean. :D ]

Also, Gloom wins the thread for stats.
Nice to know I'm younger than the average. Although I can't deny the other half.
Nothing is better than a SID. There should be SID flavor ice cream beer chocolate I don't know.

I prefer the DMG sound chip to the SID myself, but I guess that's when I start showing MY age :D
re Zavie: there are three in the US atm and one in Canada that I know of.
@party (Massachusetts, 3rd this coming June)
PixelJam (Ohio, 2nd this coming April)
Demosplash (Pennsylvania, no next event announced yet)
Récursion (formerly known as @party minidemo Montréal) will take place for the third time this coming November. We actually have a venue, but have to get the contract signed before we announce.

re Ferris . . . I like DMG okay, in moderation. High frequencies stress out my poor old ears too easily. : D
Also, I've heard way too many chipmusic concerts where its just a guy making drone noise on a Gameboy. :P
