trees
category: code [glöplog]
is what my trees now look like. Not the prettiest thing in the world but it works, methinks
how about using force to repel the notes, like in generating a poisson disk?
sigflup: good for a start - i suppose you can prettify it if you keep aligning the parent to the center of the children-group. is the order of the children important?
punqtured, yeah that's completely off topic indeed, but very nice! i didn't know about that trick.
sigflup, depending on what you're trying to do you could even ask graphviz's 'dot' tool to give you a set of node positions ("attributed dot" output format) and then use those to actually draw the nodes yourself. takes the fun of figuring it all out yourself away though. if you consider those things to be fun, which I don't.
not very real-time that way though, but hey, since punqtured started ranting about databases, I feel like I'm allowed :-)
