The saddest thing about amiga zealots is that -unlike C64 zealots- they never really had closure.

True C64 sceners saw their platform "officially discontinued" after *well over a decade* worth of successful ventures.

The Amiga, however, never got on even grounds. especially since Commodore went belly-up, it's been a penis envy "la-la-la-can't hear-you" kind of deal for them.

I mean, look at that pathetic resurrection of their sacred platform that never took off. They had to resort to overpriced PPC upgrades to make them feel right! I used to believe in the return of the Gravis Ultrasound, and somehow I wouldn't feel right about calling any other platform (how about an Audigy2 for size here) a GUS.

Pity the Amiga Zealot. They haven't had the recognition other platforms were worthy of. It's what makes them special! Like, special learning programs. The kind that serve lunches with unsharpened knives.

it's about the scene, not about the platform. and it's just that the friendship and competition feeling in the amiga scene, at least in the bbs days, has been much more intense than on pc. and that what makes it so special for me.

A modern mac is the new Amiga. The iBook I'm writing this on reminds me more of my trusty old a500 that any PC ever did.

PC sucks, and it always did. Or, as Whisker of former Replay fame once told me - "Why I don't try to show off what you can do with a PC? Well... I don't think you can do anything with a PC, actually..."

Probably the Amiga fanclub had to build up a strong identity to stand the pressure of the PC fanclub (oh, for fuck's sake... this sounds idiotic)... resulting in a big bunch of hardcore zealots who just can't do without their flag.
C64 demoscene never really had such a big platform competition, and that probably makes the difference.

And this, if even barely true, is scary anyway. And Slummy kicks ass.

i guess pretty much all platforms have their zealots, but amigas were so easy to use perhaps the morons are unable to move to pc or mac cause its too difficult for them? Afterall, as slummy said, we are talking useless + moronic fools, not just your average run-of-the-mill zealots.
