Moleman 2 - The Art of the Algorithms [demoscene documentary]
category: general [glöplog]
You might have seen this at Function, or heard of it afterwards, here it is now with English subtitles:

Now, on this note, we're looking for people who are willing to organize screenings outside Hungary as well (the movie will be fully subtitled and re-dubbed in English as well, although perhaps not for the premiere), so if you think you can bring together a roomful of people for a screening, let us know!

If you're wondering why it's part 2, here's info about the part 1: http://flamefilm.hu/productions.html
That's... weird somehow :)
Nice trailer. How long is it?
Scene 3.1
xrl: around 90-100min i suppose? don't know yet.
Very cool, thanks for the links and also for the subtitles, this is all good material to inspire me while i write my uni thesis on the demoscene :)
xrl: update -> Lameron (the director) says it's gonna be "between 80-90 minutes".
production value seems to be rather high, but having only seen the trailer, it appears the movie might be a tad too hungary-centric to work for more general audiences in other countries
which might in fact be the reason they're advertising for international sceners ;)
havoc: the trailer was aimed at a Hungarian audience and we sorta asked them to shoehorn the subtitles in later; the movie itself (afaik) takes place both at Function and MAIN, and the interviewees include a variety of nationalities, though for obvious reasons, the majority are Hungarian. the movie's also aimed for the U.S. indie film festival circuit so I don't suppose this will be a problem :)
g: In a few days' time there's a (d)emoscenocentric meeting going to take place in Warsaw, which is to be organised by Voyager. I do understand it's prolly way much too early for you to be able to provide him with an avi/mkv, but if you don't mind having a screening every so often in Poland, he's the best guy to ask. If I ever hear of anyone organising a meet-the-demoscene event in Poland, I'll touch base with you.
Oh, and it's awesome such productions pop up every now and then :-) Thanks for the hard work!

nice stuff, talk with Edis about having a screening in Stockholm
kbi: considering that he IS in the movie, sure :D
I'd love to see the whole thing, the trailer looks great.
Gargaj: I'd be happy to organize a showing at Skeneklubi for all interested people.
what's moleman 1?
we can show it over here in Portugal, of course.

rumours go New Kids Nitro will explain the history of the dutch demoscene!
damn, I thought it was going to be the double dutch crew that had that honour!
nice trailer, thanks for sharing
I can probably fix a local showing for a room ful of people in Uppsala Sweden. Would need the the actual movie though :) Would probably be at my personal cineplex here at home. But I could ask around at different clubs and such.
wix: send me an email so that i can tell you when the english version is ready to be screened.
