My 2 cents.
For me, most Apple products have made me think about usability and design. After switching to Mac - I ran Windows on my machine the first almost two years, mainly because I'd written tons of code that work on Windows. I now use my time writing code instead of computer maintenance, which was something that happened to me all the time with Windows, and I must admit I also love the aesthetics of Mac OS X - and I have Unix right there, instead of crippled DOS... And it made me realize, that I hated Windows in the first place. I don't miss horsing around with registry, UAC, WinSXS, taskbar or uninstall.
I also find it interesting, that most of the really skilled developers I know, is switching to Mac.

i believe in using the right tools for the job; for video editing you want to use final cut on a mac, and for coding you want to use visual studio on windows. anything else is a step down.
i did some projects in xcode over the past year and it was not an experience id care to repeat. especially if i wanted to actually debug anything ever.
smash: when you're coding for a living you have to consider a bit more than the best tools for the job. The app store is probably the justification rather than Xcode ;) What did you do in Xcode, if you don't mind my asking?
well, I've got Visual studio express, which is somewhat.. lacking. Standard edition doesn't exist anymore, and VS2010 pro is about 600 quid. kdevelop4 on linux here :P

psonice: if i worked on iphone id probably cross-develop all the graphics side on windows and only use xcode for the last possible bits. :) (which is what i did on mac too)
meaty: ive _seen_ you utterly fail to find a core dump with gdb and then sitting there printf debugging, so maybe it applies to linux coders too. ;)
Agree on XCode - tried it for a day and decided a text editor that isn't able to keep up with my typing speed on a friggin' 2.4GHz Core2Duo (freshly installed MBP) is just not the kind of software I'm willing to use. So for one iOS project I just did my part in VS Express with some quickly hacked Win32 wrapper around it and shunned XCode except for the absolutely necessary parts (pressing "Build+Run" mainly).

I prefer sitting in Starbucks with my cardigan, twirling my ironic moustache and searching the latest Nike Dunks or 0-tier leather Vans Era designs on Hypebeast (on my Macbook Pro of course!) also, I'm listening the latest Wavves EP called "Life Suxx" and the song "I wanna meet Dave Grohl" really captures the post-chill wave mood of 2011.

KB, I call it "Starbucks" but it's actually this new place I don't want you to know about, because it's really hip and now and if it gets known the "regular" people would show up (you know, Windows users. *roll eyes*)
