Demodays 2011 (BUENZLI 20)
category: parties [glöplog]
It's not my house, my yacht, my plane, it's my piiiiiiiiiictures. (A rather poor set, but hey.)
on sunday there was a cool projection of animations, are there any links to find them? i really liked some of them...
the screenshot also shows an important information:
DER SCHWABE VERGISST NICHT!
loved buenzli, especially the new location. see you next year!

What styx and dfox said.
Add: the demoshows really pissed me off sometimes. If you decide to play horrible beeping shit for something like hours - a little less volume please ;) else "working" on something is almost impossible, especially if you are trying to save all size restricted compos.
Besides that: Great location, cool mood

And great organizing :)

What's this about?
I liked the demoshows. Volume was OK, but then, I don't create music, and I have good earplugs: http://www.sonicshop.de/De/Plugs/Cord-Max.asp
killer: woah, longer story that is afterwards probably only half as funny.
to put it short: I got new windows mounted in my flat the days before buenzli and the work was performed in a pretty awful way (shitloads of dirt and damage) and I was still kinda upset on friday.
when talking with dfox and others about it the conclusion was, that it might take some time until I'm not angry anymore. dfox then came up with "der schwabe vergisst nicht!"
apart from that, there are loads of schwaben<->saarländer jokes going on between dfox and me, so this was just another one of them...

Usually, the one with the Schwaben are way funnier because they are a funny bunch!
F****** great party! See you next year!
Criticism:
- I prefer the calm chillout music during the nights instead of the "Krawall" in the early morning, especially when sleeping in the main hall.
- Quite some glitches in the demoshows (but beneath I loved the demoshows! Far better than the endless slide-terror!)
- Sitting on the sofas was chillaxed ... only the monitor boxes stood in the way.
But that's it. It was worth the trip! Thanks to the Orgas for a great party!
Not to forget the coffee was the best I've ever got at a demoparty and big-ups to Chefkoch for fulfilling my sometimes weird orders! \o/

hey, thank you all for visiting the party or watching us on the stream. from my side, i can tell i had a great time and for me it was one of the least stressing buenzlis. i'm happy you liked the party that much, there was a lot of new and, while pre-organizing and building up, unsure things at the new party place. we did a lot of improvisation and realtime-organizing and it turned out good. \o/
also a big thank you for the criticism! as i already said at the party and wrote in the party booklet, we are more than happy about such kind of feedback because we want to improve. we'll of course do better with the stage monitors, that's an obvious and easy one. also the noise/volume things (or more generally the sleeping space issues) are currently being discussed for next year already. the same with video equipment/production line and the demoshows. raven's post pretty much sums it up then. i'm happy there's things we can do better and different and we will do that. funny enough, those things that i was scared of in the beginning turned out to be not a problem at all :-)
thanks for being there again, thanks for liking the party and thanks for contributing, be it with entries or with drinking beer ;-) we'll keep you posted on what's going on with demodays for sure and we love getting your feedback.

hi!
thanks for your feedback. there's room for improvement in the way how we run our compos - having a lot of combined compos means a vast difference in systems, emulators, real hardware, etc. we probably underestimated that. some of the video stuff (interactive) was shown live, which required some realtime fakes :)
all in all i really liked the party. even if i'm an organizer and have probably a totally different view on things, i can say that i really enjoyed partying with you. it was superb! really loved the crowd :)
however, a bit belated, here are the results (also scene.org/incoming): results.txt
thank you guys for a great party. we <3 you.

btw, are there recordings of the OHP demos?
Saga, yes, they're on Psykon's camera and we'll bring them to you as soon as possible. Also, there are recordings of the live acts and other parts of the party.
This was a nice party and I always love to come on Buenzli because its pleasant and demoish mood. The demo and animation projection between the compos was excellent!
I was worried about the space for sitting, but it was OK and we were comfortable enjoying the party.
Thank you unlock and organizers see you next year ;o)

The Demodays 2011 After the Party Page is now online and will be extended all the time :-) Have photos, videos? Send them! Have a report? Awesome, we'd love to link to it. Thank you!
@jack-3d: you're welcome, it's great to hear you liked the event!

Very well crafted party, I´d say!
Playing demos most of the time is fine, way better than youtube or other non-scene internet trash, although it would be better to keep the voume at background music level rather than in liveact mode. Give the SquoQuo guyys a chance to be loud as well, please ;)
Apart from that I don´t mind about the volume - you can go outside or sleep elsewhere, this is not Altersheim here ;)
BTW - have I already mentioned that the donated all swiss meat was damn yummy delicious?

oh yeah, too bad that all swiss meat is gone now!
Hmm, still no OHP recordings on scene.org...? :\
T$, thanks! That meat was ordered from the local Metzger, a very nice guy who also cleaned up the dreckige Grill afterwards. Awesome!
Saga, funny, I've just been asking my fellow organizers about the OHP recordings yesterday. In any case, as soon as we actually get the recording off the camera, we'll upload them to scene.org and let you know.
Finally a YouTube video for Please Don't by Calodox. Thank you guys for the present ;-)
Let´s sum it up:
