What about something like "CGTalk FXWARS" for sceners?
category: code [glöplog]
I think we should only allow colors outside of sRGB's gammut.
eh, "gamut"
yes and all triangulated geometry must contain reasonable approximations of swastikas
and all of this interactive, in 10mb, yes.

that fits a DVD-disc as well, not bad, not bad.
just make everything in 3dsmax, lightwave or whatever and render it as an avi-file and make an avi-player, nobody would know or care. isnt that what the demoscene is all about? faking every thing you can imagine.

Why not 1.44 megs packed, then? Plus, why not make the limit 4 gigs, since that's basically the size of the USB stick that replaced floppies?

okay they would know, because of sourcecode. but that was not my point :P bleh.
If anyone who's less "graphically challenged" than myself is interested in perhaps doing a small logo for displayhack.org, that would be awesome with sugar on top. :) Something simple, that can also be featured on printed documents.
Time to revive this thread, beacuse: displayhack isn't dead! :) In fact, it's finished. We have SceneID and OpenID-integration (so you can log in with your Pouet/Scene.org credentials), a forum, featured articles etc.
There are premium authors lined up (WebGL, demoscene coding, 3D modelling etc.), but we want more. Therefore - if you want to write pieces (small as well as large) for a website that aims to be at the crossroads of demoscene, motion graphics, online art (Processing, JS and more) and all kinds of electronic art -- send me a mail!
Here is some text from the introductionary post on the site:
To sweeten the deal, here are a few screenshots to show that this isn't vaporware:

Niché-sites are cool. They are good at what they do, they cater to their audience, and they specialize. They’re nichés after all. There are many such sites and while all good and focused, almost all of them either focus too narrow or too wide.
We wanted to create a site where all those interested in the demoscene, web-based graphics, motion graphics, visual arts and other visual fringe technologies could meet, discuss and inspire each other.
As long-time demosceners, we know very well that the history of the scene is exactly that: history. If we want to play a part in the next generation of visual artistry, we need to do two things: 1) recruit, and 2) embrace. We need more people to enter the scene, actively, and we need to look outside the traditions of packaged executables downloaded to your computer. The next generation of the demoscene is already here, and it’s on the web, in movies and all around us.
Enter Displayhack. It is a site for everyone participating in or enjoying real-time graphics, graphics programming, visual arts, motion graphics and the demoscene, and aims to be a friendly and informative meeting place for beginners, seasoned professionals and everyone in between.

I will probably write a little something about my crappy code :D

The adverts here look nice, but displayhack.org just shows me that "I can't get in"...
Elite-only or beta phase?
Elite-only or beta phase?
btw, since is "it's finished" there's no beta 1337-access? :)
Forgot to add: finished, but not launched. :) We want critical mass in the article department first, hence the request for more authors and contributors.
Do you have anything from the quartz composer scene? Plenty of overlap there between the processing/demo/video scenes. I can ask around if you like (I'd do a quick intro or something, but free time is near zero and i have a demo to make :)
psonice: That would be great :)
Well, that didn't take long :) The guy who I'd say would be no.1 choice to write something about QC is interested. Where should I point him to?
