Dear Sceners, Friends and supporters ?
Sadly we need to announce that we cant do this year´s MAiN Party .
The budget for cultural Parties got cut drastic, which means, we wont get
the support of the region / city / country as we got last years. We just
got the information today that our event is not supported this year !
It was a total unexpected thing, we never thought that would happen.
Also this year the hall is not free, they are working on the surrounding
ruins ...
As much we would like to have a good demoparty with you, we wont
dissapoint you with a party organized last minute.
So we prefer to cancel ( as much it hurts us ) the event and focus on
next year.
Since 2013 Marseille is the cultural city of europe, there are very good
chances we can make it happen in 2012 and 2013 in Marseille.
We are very sorry to let you down.

That's sad news indeed as MAiN was one of my party highlights in 2009 and 2010. Great atmosphere, fantastic surroundings and the very cool Hugescreen Compo.

Nous avons le regret de vous annoncer l'annulation de MAiN Party en 2011. Les budgets publics pour les événements culturels sont réduits de manière drastique, et en ce sens, nous venons d'apprendre que MAiN Party n'obtiendra pas de subvention en 2011 de la Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ni de la Ville d'Arles comme ces dernières années. Hélas, nous ne pensions pas que cela arriverait.
Par ailleurs, la Grande Halle ne sera pas disponible en 2011 à cause des fouilles archéologiques engagées sur son esplanade.
Dans le souhait de concevoir une bonne MAIN demoparty avec vous, nous ne voulons pas vous décevoir avec un événement organisé à la dernière minute et avec les moyens du bord. Alors nous préférons l'annuler et nous concentrer sur l'organisation de MAiN 2012.
Puisque la ville de Marseille a été choisie pour être la capitale culturelle de l'Europe en 2013, il y a de grandes chances que MAIN demoparty se réalise en 2012 et 2013 à Marseille.
Nous sommes très peinés de cette nouvelle et tenons à vous remercier pour votre soutien depuis 5 ans.

well in other places of the world demopartys exist without gov funding so i doubt its impossible to form a follow-up event.
that the budget/plans can not be met this year on such short notice is understandable, tho.
i hope MAIN will live on, even if we have to say byebye to the huuuuge-screen.

And also we dont want to disappoint people doing the long travel and offer a last minute planned party ( new location / now under commercial pressure etc )
When in germany the Crisis seems to be over its really bad in france right now ! And the first things getting removed to save money is cultural interest. We knew that the great support we had in the past was a gift ...
