Cubic Player in Windows 7?

category: offtopic [glöplog]
I tried to make it running in Win7. I know that it works like a charms in Unix, but is there a version for windows? Can sombody post a link?

It is an open source, and I'm surprised that nobody rewrote the code for windows.

Supposedly it can run in Windows up to XP, see here. Otherwise.. DOSBox? Not sure what OCP offers over, say, XMPlay other than würfelmode.

Well, text mode! All that nostalgia thing! It was my favorite program.
I tried all the links - still not working in Windows.
It works in DosBox, but that's it.

Does it still have Würfel mode - otherwise, I don't care"!
mokmok,

The term nostalgia describes a yearning for the past, often in idealized form.

the past. yearning for the past. dosbox emulates the past. windows xp is not past enough.

bstrr, are you trying to say i'm always hot?

It would be nice if some genius rewrite it for current OS. xmplay is just winamp for me and it does not have that thing.
Text mode is just greatest advantage of ocp. I love far commander, text demos and all that crap.

Yeah reed, more posts. I feel that too. You are hot.

rewrite for current os and text mode does not compute.
rasmus: I saw a plasma running in notepad a while back (it was maybe parapete or xwize that did it?) A music player with a notepad interface would be pretty funky :)

what about just using foobar2000 all together from now on?!

Obviously Win7 does not have txt mode, however far commander and all those txt demos run on it.

mokmok: it does support console applications but it does not support textmode (something with aero WDDM drivers iirc?)

Cubic player had this very neat feature where you could control the song's speed by pressing plus and minus - many hours of laughter using that feature :)

haha, yeah i remember that (maybe not from cubic, think it was winamp?) Try smashing pumpkins - bullet with butterfly wings sometime, and slow it down a bit. It sounds just like john wayne!

See? It says "pitch: 100%". Although dosamp was a pretty good proggie as well :)

the_Ye-Ti, Impossible right? Coders can do 4kb musicdisk, text mode demos and porting 15 year old open source program impossible. Nice.

Go port it yourself if you think its impossible.

WinAmp didn't/doesn't just have a shitty module player, it also can't do this. However, ModPlug Player could change speed/tempo independently.
mokmok: You would have to emulate the textmode features (like dosbox does). And in that case, why not use dosbox instead of porting it anyway?

Is cubic player the same as open cubic player?
