Demoscene is dead

I see dead sceners.
(If it wasn't already said)

I see demos that do not run properly on my powerfull 600 Euros 2010 machine :
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M333 @ 2.13Ghz
4Go RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

The Euro is dead.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Demoscene is for and why it is here, it will instantly die and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
After being at Revision with my 34 years old Atari VCS and entered a demo compo with it, I stongly feel the second theory is correct.

I don't think the scene will ever die.
There will always be a place for it to reside, lurking in the shadows of the internet.

I strongly agree with JAC's theories.
squiz: you sure you don't confuse it with BBSes ?

Nope, i'm reffering to the fact that the scene is no longer limited to demos being swapped on floppies between people (at least thats how i was introduced to it in umm....1990 i think, and even then i had no real idea of the scene, just love the amazing displays and music)
BBS had a lot to do with distribution, but lets face it. BBS were only ever accessed by the nerdiest of the nerdy.
So with the arrival of the internet as it exists now, its always going to have a place somewhere, and people will still fall over it every now and then and say "hey whats this i stumbled upon".
So as jac aludes to, its always going to evolve into something else, but now the evolution is being documented for all to see.

I see demoscene has a problem when it's easier to watch a demo on Youtube than on the real hardware.

I've seen future really good demos on 8/16 bits by telepathies...
To discuss death of the scene we must define both the death as well as the scene. So, what is scene?
Masagin.
@rutra80: discuss less and try to make a demo yourself instead of freely dropping negative comments on people prods.
stalkers keep the scene alive! ;)
of course dead/o\
This thread necromancy was brought to you by rez! How ironic, keeping alive the "demoscene is dead" thread :D
Not ironic at all, where do you think he gets all the votes from.
dead people are not allowed to drop negative comments on rez' prods!
