Easter 2011

category: parties [glöplog]
There recently has been a bit of confusion about what is going on in regards of Easter 2011. Today there has been a report on a german scene portal which claims that "Eastergarden" would be the official successor to Breakpoint, with Breakpoint organizers being involved.

I do not know what the source of this confusion is, or if this confusion is possibly even intended. I'm sure the portal in question will post a correction soon.

But let be very clear at this point:
- Eastergarden is in NO way related to Breakpoint
- Eastergarden is not the successor the Breakpoint
- As it appears there will be a REAL follow-up event in Germany, 100% sceners only, compareable to what Breakpoint has been, with actual Breakpoint organizers being involved
- If you are thinking about organizing a group trip to some party for Easter 2011, I recommend that you wait a little longer to see the announcement of the REAL Easter 2011 scene event and then decide, before later being frustrated because you are staying in a stinking freezing shed next to some lame Gamerparty instead of being where all the real sceners are :)

it's just scamp being bitter. i'm going to TG/Eastergarden, cause i don't feel like sitting on the fence and wait for a party that hasn't even been announced yet, when there's a 100% chance for TG to be held, since, you know, they have funds and stuff.

Everyone and his dog is free to organize 10000 demo parties on easter weekend. Sceners will decide where they want to go. I for myself have zero intentions to change the country where I'm partying at on easter weekend. Other people have other intentions, all fine.

But NO party whatsoever should give the impression that they are any kind of follow-up event to Breakpoint, it's LAME.

And at this point, it's known to everyone who have plans to organize something for easter weekend 2011 that they aren't alone. Any kind of "we are the saviors of easter weekend" marketing at this point is just silly. There obviously will be multiple parties. If your own party plans explode, sceners will have other options.

Simple solution to the problem: Keep Breakpoint out of your easter party announcements.

Kepler: Of course saying good-bye to Breakpoint for me also isn't easy. I guess it's understandable I'll protect the legacy of it. For what it's worth: The organizing team of the Easter 2011 party planned in Germany also got told not to advertise their event by referring to Breakpoint, and they are sticking to it.

You call it bitterness, I call it fair play.

And as I'm not directly involved in any of the potential easter partys, I have all the right in the world to enjoy as much flame wars and drama as I want :)

Bitterness or not, I will be there. In Germany that is. Hopefully there will be some co-trip with fellow Berliners to wherever it is :)

scamp: "are staying in a stinking freezing shed next to some lame Gamerparty instead of being where all the real sceners"

fair play, or a blatant lie? and what do you mean by "real sceners" ?
added on the 2010-11-09 19:08:47 by Kepler Kepler
Kepler: I'm not part of the game, so I don't need to play, nor need I play fair. I'm not organizing a demo party on Easter 2011. Got it now?

And by "real sceners" I mean all sceners who have penisses and/or tits, magic skills and therefore are elite.

read that Article today and knew its not the REAL SHIT !
having visited Evoke which had not only rumours but actual statements of there´ll be a new Party in Germany at Easter-Weekend which got talked of about here@pouet aswell already...
seems eventho Bobic is in the Top#10-glöppers, he just glöps demos and doesnt glöp too much on the BBS anymore, eventho he´s an Article-Writer IRL!
( ok, understandable tho: having to read/write all day ( like some DiskDrive ) makes one want to consume_ONLY in the evenings i guess! )

conclusion: you all dont pouet enuff :p

PS: party takes place in my Appartement btw: 43.5qm including a balcony with sight on a smelly_cemetery ->
now reconsider: is it me stinking, or is it just the deads stinking on me? ( maybe just my washing_mashine died aswell and so it turned into a gravestone! maybe i should claim my kitchen to be a part of that cemetery or sth! )
-> its all fine, WashingMachine washingMachine = new WashingMachine(12); // constructor loaded with integer providing Days_until

Maybe the party is more like Boozembly? I like the idea of boozing in some random forest in Norway with my favorite scene friends!

"[..] I call it fair play." -> "[..] nor need I play fair."

well, you would miss the biggest european scene_party of the year then tho !
considerations to be made, yeah, i guess we all get happy again once we know more and considered !
Scamp: I am really looking forward to your list of real sceners so you can show us who are real and who is not so we know what party to go to. Do a real scener need to be german? is it enough to make demos? or do you also need to be dead drunk while making it? Do a real scene need to be a coder or can he be a graphician and/or musician as well? Do he/she need to be everything? Is the only real sceners PC sceners? or is the only real sceners the oldskool sceners?

Would be nice with some guidelines from such experts on this subject as you clearly are Scamp!

So err, who exactly set themselves up as the Breakpoint replacement party?

We sure as hell didn't.
The german party didn't.

So, in other words, Scamp: You're ramblig about an article some guy wrote who got it wrong (I'm still certain it's actually Magic with a new handle). Can you do that somewhere else?

proteque: there are no real sceners in norway. just gamers, and people in a stinking, freezing shed. everyone knows this :p
