You know, many of the "illiterates" (e.g. natives) didn't have the same concept of property as the "immigrants" (e.g. political/religious refugees), or "illegals" (e.g. those who engage in document/identification fraud, for teh jobz) for that matter.

Also, many of the "illiterates" sold their property in exchange for goods/tools, and even assisted the “immigrants” in developing the land. In fact, without assistance from the natives sustainable settlements would not have been possible.
