+1 to panta, not gonna happen though. but if there is some sort of bar arrangement or anything to please all of us alcoholics.. i would go to meet demosceners there. and i actually do think scene.org awards are PERFECT for TG as far as the stage and location goes. i see nothing but positives having all the gamers sit there and watch how awesome it is to be us (i mean.. not me, but those who win awards and stuff).

Having a few beers should be no problem, as long as you can behave.

(This is just the same as at ASM, the difference is that the security at TG is way more relaxed.)

leia sums it up nicely. TG will not give any sort of guarantees of entry - if you drink outside of the hall and aren't allowed back in, it's entirely your thing. It is also generally not desired to have shitdrunk people in the hall, as they only contribute negatively to the general atmosphere during compos, so as with everything else in life: moderation. :)

Sounds like moderation is key indeed if you want to be able to get some decent sleep inside the hall. :)

i am almost 40 years old (read: soon dying).. i really cant deal with guards checking if i am drunk or not. TG is soooooo far off the charts in what i consider a PARTY.

not to mention that the effects of alcohol withdrawal among alcoholic sceners is much worse than allowing them to have a beer or 50!

Jesus. Complaining about a party with a no booze policy is one thing, but are you seriously dismissing a party because it has some unspecified limit on how wasted you're allowed to be before you get kicked out?

ANY party, even Breakpoint, has such a limit somewhere. Hell, there's only one public place that doesn't, and that's a police cell.

For the record, I have in the past been refused entry into Assembly because I was totally shitfaced after consuming almost an entire bottle of salmiakki. I accept that that was an utterly dipshit stupid thing to do, and it would have been entirely my fault if they hadn't let me back in later and I'd spent the night on a bench in Pasila station instead. Learn some personal responsibility, motherfuckers. I did.

Sceners are special flowers that need all freedom for their alcohol intake!

It's pretty funny to see this thread starting with people raging on a party because it treats them as kids and now these people give examples that they actually behave like kids when it comes to drank.

it's just great that this thread is about the awards being held at the gathering and 90% of the debate is on alcohol policies! and that's even while everyone is still sober!

what I want to know is whether the fact that my breath smells like beer and I look funny, will make me unable to enter the partyhall :) I'm usually perfectly well behaved unless pissdrunk, but I have been refused entry to TP for "smelling like alcohol" and having perhaps slightly wobbly feet - im guessing its up to the steroid-dude at the door then?

of course noone is allowed inside while pissdrunk and puking all over the place, so yapping on like the ones wanting a beer is about to go all teenager is just a strawman argument.

nic0: I managed to get into Assembly quite intoxicated (and succesfully do studiocompos as well!) without a hitch and Leija just told us the TG security is less strict than Asm.
