Some simple facts a deluted (probably western-) german should know:
EAST-Germany starts EAST of Berlin
Most of the ex-GDR is actually Mitteldeutschland
Rest of East-Germany is under polish/(ex-)sovietrussian government since 1945.
It's the South and Southwest that still holds terms of language that nowadays are considered offensive or definitely are of racist nature - like refering to a Negro as "Bimbo"

bist du irgendwo hängengeblieben? im jahre 2010 ist deutschland, was es ist, und nicht was es war. also:
- former ex-GDR is called "neue bundesländer", it consists of 5 federal states which span roughly from north to the middle between north and south and from the middle between east and west to the east of germany (including bits of south germany).
- there is no germany under polish or russian government, because those regions belong to poland and russia.
- south and southwest germans do not use racist terms more often or less than all the other germans. however, every time someone does so, i feel embarrassed and ashamed for their stupidity.
