Demo'ish videos
category: offtopic [glöplog]
I used an electron microscope for the very first time today. That thing gave me some serious demoish vibes - nearly infinite zoom on a highly detailed spider in real time :)
msqrt: cool!

wtf is that game about?
So many demo elements in that Child of Eden trailer!
Child of Eden is the sequel to Rez : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4EFNWe4mCc
The gameplay looks very similar (rail shooter) and the game looks amazing, like Rez did back in 2001.
Here's Mizuguchi playing Child of Eden during 5mn (at the very begining of the conference) : http://e3.gamespot.com/press-conference/ubisoft-e3/
I've always thought Rez looked like a playable demo, anyway. I'm only surprised Mizuguchi seems not to know the demoscene at all (I asked him last year when he came to Nolife to do some interviews). It's even more surprising when you know that he had access to an Amiga in Japan back in the 90's. In an old interview, he said that his got his first idea of a musical shooter when he discovered Xenon 2.
