Why should anybody port something to a DEAD platform? It's like someone would ask for BeOS ports. Also, I second what preacher said. That's fame enough already. ;)

Console platforms such as Dreamcast are far from dead. Saying that the Dreamcast is a dead platform would be just as prepostorous as saying the Amiga is "dead", or any other silly such dead thread to grace Pouet for that matter. ;-)

Commercially it is dead. From the scene point of view, it's just getting to life, with the first non-commercial middleware slowly reaching maturity right now.
But i have to agree that not coming to a point within one page reminds me of some politicians and SUCKS.
rasmus: the KOS OpenGL is so lame it's almost fake. It won't do much more than the most basic NeHE tutorials. However, i consider it as a decent and self-explaining example of how one can start with PVR2 programming.

When I said "dead" I obviously not meant the few people "still using it", but the by now(!) virtually not existing market share and the fact that it is not produced by sega anymore.
Well, i would i find it hard to use anything as a dead person :P
who would like to port anything for free to dreamcast?? If dreamcast owners would like to see some demos, then they should get a computer, and i`ll bet that the most of them allready have a computer.

As long as more info is given, I'd have no problem in investing some time porting my prods (as long as it doesn't take an exagerated amount of time).

Freeze: If you think you just port a PC demo to Dreamcast you really should readup on dreamcast developing and hardware.
First of all, no opengl, no direct3d, sure there are some minigl shit in kos but it sucks and you will never be able to use it to port a pc demo. Second of all you have the standard problem with little/big endian iirc, then after all this you have a pvr chipsets that cant do to much alphablending per gridblock since the machine will litteraly freeze.. Add to this the small amount of ram and poor cpu and you will really soon understand you dont port demos, you rewrite them.
And doing this for free? PFFT. And i don't think you or your teammates will be able to port a single demo with what you have stated here.

Alright. There are about... let's say... 10.000 demos out there? Or maybe more? It's absolutly realistic that some demos can't be ported, but some can. The Dreamcast is not the same like a 1800 MHz PC but on the other hand it has twice the RAM of a PS2.

If you do so and really care about this injustice, please also complain at thousands of online fanzines why they they're looking for free article and don't pay anyone, please bug people who ask for some help in million of boards out there and please tell all the people who help a social organisation why they don't talk money from them.

freeze: ok, send me a dreamcast and some dev-sdk-thingies and i'll port some of my older stuff.
rasmus: you get a used Dreamcast at used game stores for ca. 30 EUR. then you get the middleware here http://cadcdev.sf.net, and then you optionally get a serial coder's cable, for about 25 EUR+shipping. or you can tune up your laser, to make DC read CDRWs. but then you don't get any debugging console.

eye/PaC: If I'd port anything for a company to put on a promotional- or whatever-cd, I'd like to get payed. Most coders here make a living of it, and making demos are one way of using your knowledge for creativity. Cool enough. But porting demos is just plain boring. Anyway, if I had a dc (which I don't, and never will unless someone give me one for free) I'd definatly make a demo for it. Just for the fun, you know. But porting an existing pc-demo to it? No way...

A PS2 has 32MB plus 4MB embedded within the GS.
A Dreamcast has 26MB.
