The subject of my next book will be the demoscene and I require your help.

I'm currently collecting info about the scene.

Here is my main concern:

a certain number of websites and articles published in mainstream media,

label the scene as a sect.

What your stake on that?

The demosect is a cult based around the making of glorified screensavers. These screensavers are usually made in domain-specific languages like Naprola. Most known "groups" in the demosect gets a lot of girls and people show them religious respect.

we prefer to call it religious cult.

common prayers are "hallo/was" as well as the hymn of "amigaaaa". and wearing pants is discouraged. "IN DIE PUTE" soon became a statement of general disagreement.

So how did we get as far as Elevated and its ilk? It's fair to say that the demoscene has grown from nefarious roots. 8-bit computers, particularly the Commodore 64, allowed a sect of young programmers to form around their open, powerful and flexible architectures.
