.kkapture 0.01 - demo capturing made easy (hopefully)
category: code [glöplog]
PC-04 is .NET which doesn't work in general. Can't look into it ATM, no access to a DX10 machine right now.
The rest should be fixable in relatively short order.

ector: fullscreen version crashes on start for me, but the windowed version works just fine and kkaptures properly. no clue.
version 1.01 released here. You can now turn off the frameskip on frequent timer checks ("Skip frames on frequent timer checks" option) and I've added the "virtual framebuffer" mode for old buggy DDraw apps that assume that pitch=bytesPerPixel*width (like fall equals winter).
bump
bump bump :)
ok ok.
It seems to now spit out avi-files not compatible with virtualdub?
Thanks ryg! Fall equals winter is working now. I'll throw some more Replay and Threestate stuff at it when I have time...
hornet, huh? a bit more precise please.
"Threestate - Lost Vegas" not working quits to desktop.
"Louis lane" by Blasphemy still has the same error. Doesn't seem to be the pitch then...
Talent - Wonders never cease not working. When I check nothing I get only the first scene like before, when I check the GDI/DDRAW options I get 1.3GB of blackness.
rare: as i've said multiple times, lost vegas must be a problem with your setup, it works just fine here.
Ofcourse Lost Vegas runs fine, it's quality code!
ryg - ok, that was probably the shittiest error-report ever. Especially because I think virtualdub is at fault. I'll have another look at it, but consider it a non-issue until then.
Some bookprint and a broken heart partly works when I uncheck "make sleep() last one frame", but then get's stuck at random points in the demo and loops there.
I'll try Lost Vegas on another machine again.

mother mother my ears bleed crashes when i try to kkapture it...
An issue when capturing rapture by asd: the demo always crashes at the end for me which may not be an issue for the casual demowatcher but makes kkapture leave a defective avi file behind (first 0x200 bytes left blank).
Workaround: fix by hand (i.e. hex copy&paste another avi with identical specs and then letting VirtualDub do the dirty work)
Can you make kkapture write a dummy header to make VirtualDub accept the file anyway even if it's incomplete?

err, I mean first 0x800 bytes left blank, and the crash happens when the demo is meant to cleanly exit to desktop
Rapture didn't crash for me under kkapture...
Kabuto - check "Separate Encoder Thread" and kkapture -should- be able to shut down properly after such.
Or poke at http://wurstcaptures.untergrund.net/index.php?page=kkapture bullet point #5

Nosfe: I'll look into it.
Kabuto/micksam: More recent kkapture versions (0.09 onwards) also have a "shut down cleanly" hotkey: Try pressing right Ctrl. This will close the video file cleanly then kill the host process.
