GNU Rocket icon
category: general [glöplog]
Seeing how Quite's search for a logo went very well, I thought I'd ask for graphics help here on pouët as well.
I'm about to try to make some sort of official release of GNU Rocket soon-ish, and one of my wishes before that is to have a good-looking application-icon for it. I tried making something myself at first, but I'm not very pleased with the outcome. The 16x16 icon works OK-ish enough on it's own, as does the 256x256 one (but it's just some image from the internets with some color-tweaks, whoops), but the 32x32 icon is fugly IMO. It might be that my approach of drawing the 16x16 was a bad one.
So now I'm reaching out. Is there anyone out there who'd like to help out? What is needed, is a full set of application icons, in sizes 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 and 256x256, as per Windsow Visual Guidelines for icons.
In return, you get unlimited fame, you can't have MORE than unlimited; it's the end of the race for fame.
Unc: This is your opportunity to get back at me!

Depends on the type of unlimitedness. Is it isomorphic to the set of real numbers or naturals?
Kusma: Your icons are just fine.
macaw: I tend to disagree. But if no one wants to help out, I guess I could work on them a bit more... :/

better focus on the software itself rather than the icon :)
Just do it the Linux way: Make the icon user-configurable, then everyone wins!
plek: that's why I've waited this long; the software already kicks serious butt.
here i ascii'ed one for you :)
Code:
A
gnUrock
H e
/H\ t
:D
BarZoule: It kinda looks like an old man with a stick.
oh, and I'm not juding GNU Rocket performance here :)

just a random image
kusma: i agree with your rating of the icon set. however, i'd rather see you spend time on developing on gnu rocket than on picking icons :-)
from google:
http://www.iconspedia.com/icon/rocket-18-3.html
http://www.iconarchive.com/show/transport-for-vista-icons-by-aha-soft/rocket-icon.html
http://www.veryicon.com/icons/system/smoothicons-10/rocket-1.html
Some of them are limited by licenses, but my bet is that the authors would allow use in an opensource program with proper credits.

I'm guessing you're affected by the sf.net planned downtime... I haven't experienced any issues myself, though.
ah, ok. magic it is then :)
