So dotwaffle is talking about setting up a massive easter party in the UK in 2011.

Being a brit myself, we're not exactly the world's epicentre of demos. I'm not saying it can't work, but it won't unless everyone thinks turning up is a good idea.

Alternately, we could all go to the gathering and turn it back into a demo party (I'm sure the gathering orgas are still sceners at heart).

OR.. we have over a year to have a chat about this and sort out when, how, where, and if. UK is good for me, but there's a risk that party reports will complain about our famously bland food and crap trains. You'll all turn up late and hate our sausages. (Lincolnshire sausages are better than frankfurters, and I refuse to hear any word to the contrary).

Breakpoint has been our mecca for the last 7 years. I'm prepared to help if there's some substance to this.

rumours say some germans are working on a breakpoint replacement. if i have to bet on any replacement right now, that's where my money goes. (but it doesnt necessarily mean i will show up myself.)

i guess that unless something definitive shows up, there's gonna be a massacre for the easter slot, which might actually result in 3-4 parties on the same weekend, TG not included.

If there will be another big party to replace breakpoint in germany that would have my preference, if I want to go to a UK party I'd go to Sundown, probably.

That's the problem.. loads of party orga wannabes aren't going to make some big party. They should get together and do something in one place.

Bingen is far away, UK is far away.. potato, potato.. I wouldn't mind going to the UK, although there indeed IS a sausage-issue!

UK parties will always be querky. We grow up thinking Europeans are weird, then turn up in Europe and find out that we're the weird ones. Sundown is very British. A breakpoint replacement needs to be in a country that everyone is near to.

Meanwhile, you should come to sundown 2010 and experience something different! We have a beach and fish and chips.

Move Evoke og TUM to Easter.

Actually, when thinking about it. Why NOT make Evoke the next Breakpoint. They are the biggest (real) demoscene party after BP. (arent they?)
And seeing as Assembly is usually acouple of weeks after Evoke, it would make sense to move it to Easter (ok, you got the TG crash then :D but still)

Or hell, maybe the Organizer guru Gargaj wants to step up and make FUNCTION the next No.1 DemoScene Party.

TUM or Evoke at Easter would be great. After all, I'm sure everyone else, like me, has got all their family and friends convinced that the Easter weekend is utterly out of bounds because they will *definitely* be at a demoparty. It's taken years to achieve an unconditional state of unavailability for one long weekend each year, and if word gets out that we're suddenly free over Easter, we'll get roped into all sorts of boring crap.

The scene is one of the very few places where people think of replacing a party with one in another country.

ryanair flies from everywhere to the UK. from *everywhere*. i don't see the problem. maybe you could rent that meadow *right next to stansted airport*, and put up some big party hall there? that would be handy.

then again, i'd vote against a bp replacement at all. a single big "the" event is fine and it's nice to see everyone at once, but the energy in organising seems huge (even relative to the visitor amount), and the price/facilities ratio isn't all that great either. and then you get a democompo of 6 hours, a lot of noise and mud, and half an hour by bus to the hotel.

i'm not saying BP did a bad job, quite the contrary, i doubt you could do a party of that scale possibly any better (or at least, affordably so). but isn't a 200 people party in fact just as much fun, way easier to organise, and way simpler to get comfy?

Looking at map, Germany is a natural choice for the "big one". Of course good luck with arranging new parties, though!

actually a big dutch party would rock, i'd definately be up for that!

that's definitely not happening, outline has no desire to grow much larger than it is now (max 130 visitors).

Perhaps all the 'I could be a easter hero by organizing a bp replacement' people should meet at bp and have a nice little chat (as in: everyone gets a brick, the last man standing wins the party)

I'd be willing to bring the rave to UK as well. Flights are cheap enough indeed. But how about commodations?

maybe france is a bit way off for lots of sceners aswell, but i advice everyone to visit Main this year !
We really had a blast last year, superb climate helped i guess !
and there´s that huge screen on the roof-top ;) 3000m² :D
i dunno if the orgas/city are/is capable of 1000 sceners yet, but the party-hall should be big enuff for sure !
and the partys name is MAIN anyway, haha ;)

The 2011 easter party should be somewhere near Schipol.
