category: general [glöplog]
Consistent across F-Secure, Norton, AVG...
Latest offender was texas, which Norton didn't like.

this ought to be in the faq if it isn't already
YAWN
Congratulations. Amazing discovery.
set an 'ignore this directory' on c:\demos\ which most AVs offer. put your demos there and watch them without bitching.
"the always incomplete pouët.net faq"?
well, ignoring directories; in theory it works;
I tend to keep demos in A:\user\public\downloads\scene on my desktop; and I have AVG set to ignore that directory, but when I execute, panic ensues

Aw come on guys, I've been running windows xp/vista/7 for 4 years straight without any firewall or antivirus. Ocassionally I'd run some checks (1-2 times a year), and find nothing.
What, sticking your noses where they don't belong? MS' OSses are secure enough nowadays, if they're used responsibly.

The demoscene, creating multimedia viruses since 1982
still gets viruses in 2009 = WORST PORN SURFER EVER
skip win32 demos, they suck anyway
The last (real) virus I got was from my thumbdrive. It was this irritating thing that try to hide in a subfolder of the $RECYCLE.BIN directory. That thing could of wandered on to my thumbdrive from when I plugged it in to a public computer at school.
I know, I know, disable autorun, blah blah blah.
The fact remains that the computers on my home network still get infected on occasion, and the heads of my household paid good money to protect them.

It is a tricky think really, when someone asks me about the demoscene and I want to convert, and I send him links to 4ks among others. Then he thinks I tried to infect his computer and it's hard to explain :P
So I only give them 64ks and demos.

ok so you're putting the blame for bad porn surfing habits on you're dad now...
My dad is a Chaplin; a Lieutenant Colonel; an ordain minister of the Presbyterian Church of America.
Being in the military, we are required to have security software installed.
So, apparently the only way to get a virus is looking at porn. That is news to me.

[grammar nazi]And no, I am not my own dad.[/grammar nazi]
i still don't get how people get viruses.
