Personally, I can't say anything in favour of those joke demos that placed so highly at BP. Please someone, enlighten me...

well, the calodox demo deserved a high placing for me, can't say i'd class that one as a joke demo as such. It took me back to the amiga days with style and design.

The metalvoltze one... yeah, maybe that should have placed a bit lower... but i wasn't there, so maybe it was crowd pleasing enough to deserve it.

the Boozooholics demo should have won the Amiga compo! :)

I think (and i'm almost serious about this) that there should be a seperate compo for fundemos at parties... At least in parties where the amount of demos is sufficent...

In my opinion, it's a travesty the MFX/Kewlers didn't win, but then, it's all about opinion...

all demos looked like eachother (kind of fr or mfx-style), so it was a relief, that there where different things from calodox or metalvotze, believe me, i was there.

Boozaholics? Come on! Our demo (YOU ARE COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS!) was much funnier. We deserved 10th place ;-)

Well personally I believe the growing attitude of the scene today is: "Hey, I can do that and I don't even have to put any effort into it. I think I'll encourage this sort of thing and discourage everything that's out of my reach."

Same goes for the minimalistic art trend.

if the finns would've entered the very same demo in finnish, it wouldn't have won shit. same goes for swedish, russian, spanish, hungarian, whatever.
fact is that on one of the biggest _international_ demoscene events this year, non-germans CAN reserve the right to dislike a demo they can't understand.

Also, take into account that no matter how funny their demo was, _there were better demos in the compo_. Yes, the compo WAS mediocre, but one shouldn't vote on a "funny" demo just because some others weren't good... People who did actually sacrificed good demos as the Assembly Invitation or Syntonic Dentiforms...

thats funny ... i never heard amiga sceners crying about how useless it is to do demos for their system coz your peezees are so much faster and now youre whining that you dont have a chance just coz metalvotze/abysscon. has won a single little compo.

all we can say is that - to us - computers and scene have to be amusing, entertaining - just friendship and fun! there's enough other boring things in life, so just try to relax...

what i did release? watch the results and you will find my name somewhere not really at the end of the list (surely just another sign for the bad taste of the voters). unfortunately it wasnt a demo coz until now i couldnt find any active and open minded coders to participate in something bigger.

first of all, for those who didn't understand the songtext, there is a translation as a .nfo file within the demo.
Those who seriously want to differ between fun demo and pc-demo compo: Go and book a hotel at parties and bore yourself to death :-)
For those who think the demo was technically crap should have again a view on the inside of the c64, it is a 100% copy of the inside, so even the pcb is idenitcal to that of an real c64.
Overall, do better demos or get fucked and fucked up your arse again anbd again, hahahaha, believe us we can so much more crappier stuff and win compos (if there are only two entries, bwahahahaha) ;-)

xenusion: ok.. though i kinda meant the democompo, but no matter... Still complaining about the quality of releases of a particular (especially a major) compo is rather hypocritical when you've not participated in the compo yourself...
