Desperately seeking PFK - scene music unstolen...
category: general [glöplog]
Hello Pouet!
I'm trying to get hold of PFK (Per Fredrik Kvarme) on behalf of Frankmusik - basically there was a little controversy as Frankmusik had sampled a short section of his track "Beer Station" on a commercially released track.
Essentially Frankmusik would like to arrange compensation / royalties with PFK, and also have him credited on the reprint of the albums sleeve notes which are due to be pressed soon.
There was another sampling incident with Frankmusik of which he has arranged with the original musician a similar deal which all involved are happy with.
It is worth noting that the sections are rather short and this whole situation is being handled a lot more positively than the Timbaland controversy.
If you choose to comment on this, it's probably best that you become familiar with the back story, more info here:

Goto80's FLIPCHIP blog also has some subjective but rational commentary also:
http://chipflip.wordpress.com/
It'd be preferable to be somewhat pragmatic as these samples are short and it's not wholesale riff stealing warranting like a certain other high profile incident a few years ago.
If anyone is in touch with PFK, can they please get him to contact me at rc55 [at] rc55 [dot] com.
Many thanks!

Oh and I have tried the address on CSDB and his Facebook profile...
darn. "Beer Station" was a really cool SID iirc.
Well, you have tried to reach him. If he doesn't respond just ignore it. It's not like he can claim victory of a law suite when he releases his stuff for public domain.
Yeah, Hatikvah is right.
Public domain? Has he explicitly said so?
It's from a video game, idiot.
