also for amiga prods there should be tags for which version of kickstart is required to run the demo.
and yeah, it would be nice to have the minimun amount of mem also, for example i'd like to be able to search for 'whatever amiga prods that work on an a600 with 1meg of chip and 2,05 kickstart"

you silly bunch of nitpicks :)
well, if i have a certain kind of hardware i'd like to be able to search & download prods for that exact hardware, instead of "i'll just get anything ocs/ecs and test if it runs"
nosfe, get a relokick disk, then most kick 1.3 demos will run on your hardware as well

And yeah, it'd be nice to have a bottemless bag of candy and a magic horse. But in reality, who's going to take the time to sit down and test ALL the various Amiga Scene productions on Pouet on ALL different possible Amiga configs?and yeah, it would be nice to have the minimun amount of mem also, for example i'd like to be able to search for 'whatever amiga prods that work on an a600 with 1meg of chip and 2,05 kickstart"
that would be a great task for solo2, would't it be?
### song, people dancing, flashlights, amiga500, 1meg of chip, 2.05 kickstart ###
yeah it takes a lot of effort to have exact data on prods(and im not even thinking just amiga but there should be more exact info on other platforms as well), but is that a reason to not allow the possibility of having that information in the database?
Yeah, that's a lot of work indeed. Far from all demos (in fact only a very few) have been tested on BitWorld, but the fields are there in the database. If a demo fails on your rig and you're lucky, you might find info for that demo.
Most demos from 1987 will probably work on kick 1.2, 1988 to 1992 on kick 1.3, and newer ones on 2.0+.
Like break said, only a handful pre-AGA demos will require ECS, out of thousands. So just renaming the category will work for me, I think someone will write a comment for those few that don't work on OCS.

Photon, it's hard work indeed. All of mine actually have been hand tested, and marked for config inconsistencies accordingly (try searching for the strings "ks1.2" or "1mb chip" for example).. But because of that I have very few prods compared to Bitworld ;)
(You should see the size of my backlog. It never ends :))

Imagine trying to work out minimum specs on every Windows demo! Or giving detailed explainations on how to get the linux demo's compiled and running under various builds!and im not even thinking just amiga but there should be more exact info on other platforms as well
The frustration of not being able to run half the demo's on ones machine without messing with system settings is half the fun.
It should be the up to the people who release the Demo to put this info in their readme. It's not Pouet's problem.
no, the frustration of not being able to run demos is just frustrating. it's not fun. it has been fun. it will never be fun. it's just fucking frustrating.
having retarded idiots opposing any good idea is pouet's problem. severely.
readmes and infos don't help at all when you can't do searches based on them.
there is information that can be shared to make watching demos more enjoyable, why the fuck are you against making it possible?

I'm with Dodge... Renaming the category to Amiga OCS/ECS will certainly make sense.
Given that this thread is more than 7 years old, and nothing has ever changed this then, I am slightly pessimistic about this false category tag being changed at all. There is a considerable difference between something making sense, and seeing it being implemented on Pouet.
I agree with you completely. Somebody should rename the category to "Amiga OCS/ECS".
