[breed] Demo Group Launch

category: general [glöplog]
Evenin Folks, Breed (http://www.breedart.org) is expanding from its traditional basis of art, music and skins, into the demoscene. Were looking for highly motivated and talented coders interested in having their products associated with the Breed name look us up and take a look at our site. IF you think you can interact your code with the many production of Breed's work, send an email to scree@breedart.org.

We've already got a solid basis of 2d artwork and many talented musicians. Some of you may not be familiar with names but we do have the renowned demoscene artist Visualice already signed up with us. So if your interested, please contact us soon. We are intending to launch a demo division before summer with many products released during Summer 2004.

Thanks in advance for your inquiries,
Craig "Scree" Schupp
General Manager, Webmaster

Truth or fiction? :)

I've never heard of "Breed" before, but there's some nice stuff on that site.
yea, Breeds part of an offshoot of the ansi/ascii group scene that spawned quite a few years ago. Its part of a movement of 2d artists who find a home and publicity for their work by releasing with other talented people. We've had no real involvement with the demoscene because quite frankly, most people in the hirez scene don't even know of the demoscene. I'd like to think of the hirez scene as more of a non-european centered scene, unlike the demoscene. Prolly one reason our scenes have never mixxed before. I'm hoping to change that ;)

more hirez 2D would be a fresh breath in today's demoscene ruled by accelerated 3D...

Cool stuff on your site! The demoscene could really use some graphicians :)

I apologize for being such a dumbass ignorant, but what do you mean with "hirez" scene?

High resolution?

Oh, go ahead and name me a group where Visualice is *not* in. ;)
Ok, demoscene needs more art. Agree.

And please, scratch that "manager". It sounds like commerce. ;>

Fabulous idea and I think any coder would be foolish to pass up this opportunity.

High-Resolution, or Digital Artwork as it usually comes down to. We accept traditional artists, but our basis is on the digital mediums used to create artwork. So tablets and photoshop and all that goodness.

My title is complicated too ... we aren't a commercial group, but we needed a title for the position that runs all of our divisions.... GM sounded best at the time.

this only goes to show schools in Europe sorely miss the Future Enterprise drilling !
scree, why'd you need someone that runs all divisions? having a hard time agreeing on things? kick out members.

well, mostly to direct the purpose and goals of the group. For example, the group doesn't get a voice in the fact that were expanding into Demos. This is something that the group division leaders and myself thought would bring all of our groups products together. Also keep in mind, most artists are notoriously lazy (at least in my experience). I usually have a virtual-whip I use to beat artwork out of the groups members ;)

Sorry, I still don't get it... you tell me that what makes the difference between demoscene artworks and "hirez" is only a matter of screen resolution?

I'll soon quit the demoscene to found a supercool 24bit music scene, probably.

dixan: the only difference i think is that these guys don't release at demoparties ;)

Anyways, new talented 2d graphicians would be a most welcome change in the scene.

boyc: yeah. and musicians too, and coders of course.

Hirez? sorry, everything i see on the site is screen-res and not poster-res. What do you call hirez then? I think it's just fucking elitism. Just like calling yourself a "manager" instead of "hat" or something.

And you would need a very unambitious coder. That is, one without his own artistic ambitions, as a slave. Like in tah "pr0n" Gameindustry! No, i really wouldn't like to. Not that you would like me to code for you either. ;)

Do your artists also do 3D modelling? I haven't found any.
