Benefits of being PhD?

the main benefit of being a PhD is most likely, being a highly valued and possibly disposable and thus recoverable piece of paper that will grant some self-proclaimed genius dickhead his salary with more than three zeros at the end.
I prefer my salary with nines.

In Russia PhD gives you nothing. In some rare cases it can raise your salary a little. Typical salary raise is approximately 200$ and I know only one PhD how get it.
The only reason I got PhD is my own interest to work on complex problem and communicate with a lot of smart people.

My dad upgrades himself with constant education. The reason is not the title itself, but the fact that each upgrades makes him worth more. He told me however, that there is a practical limit, that at some point EVERYONE will deem you overqualified for anything and thus it become more of a burden.
I think personally that all humanistic doctorates are bullshit of the highest order. The fact that you can read plato or other entirely irrelevant philospher cult leaders thoughts, and get a pat on the back for being able to reproduce them at a test setting, shows nothing but your ability to rope learn irrelevant things. But I appreciate them (phd's) in a practical setting when they invent new awsome stuff through R&D, cure cancer or give me high speed internets to troll on.

You probably have neither a phd in humanities nor you have spent any time interacting with people who have. So, do you base your assumption on something else other than ignorance ?
