MTL pub meet may 30th
category: general [glöplog]
gd will be in Montreal around that date for Mutek 10 and he suggested we do something. So I'm calling every scener of the area and anyone willing to drive for such an event.

may 30th is just guesstimate, it could as well be on may 27th or june 1st, we'll see what's best :D

thanks for starting the thread! I'm in Montreal from may 26 to june 2, and I'll be going to most of the mutek events during then. so, I hope to hang out with some scene people whether or not you're attending mutek events. I'm very beer-friendly.
Hey gd! thx for the bump :)
I'll be there, arriving Friday returning Sunday. Also, Gargaj told me to try to meet Keops if he's there, since he's a Quebecer.
wait Keops is an actual human!?
I was thinking of going to Mutek. I didn't know about it at all until I saw an ad for it in the metro. I didn't know people outside of the city actually heard about it.
Count me in too!
i also went to mutek in 2005 and 2008. they get visitors from all over the place, even though it's not a big event.
so far, i have nothing planned for monday, june 1. how about a dinner/pub meetup that evening? bonus points if someone can show some demos.
i also have free time before then, but in small blocks.

I'm all for that! If we have a nice weather I propose Les 3 Brasseurs on St-Denis. Nice terrasse and enough different kinds of foods and beers to please most people.
cool, that venue looks great. i also asked zapper if he can join.
i'm also interested in checking out m:brgr while i am here :)
zapper says he will likely join us for dinner on monday, and he likes the restaurant.
that's perfect!
also, i was wondering about mutek: I suppose the most not-to-miss events will be either Fri or Sat evening, but you probably know best.. so here is the big question: which evening is better to just go to the shows and which one is better to just booze out ? :)

hmm, i am especially looking forward to:
* nocturne 2 at metropolis tonight (deadbeat, moderat)
* nocturne 4 at metropolis on saturday night (mathew johnson, dandy jack, carl craig
* atom by robert henke and christopher bauder should be really interesting (3 performances fri/sat)
* the two piknics in parc jean-drapeau on saturday and sunday sound really good (thomas fehlmann, ricardo villalobos) and so far the weather is looking good too :) (i went last year in the rain anyway)
i'm also going to all of the a/vision events although they start at 8pm and it makes getting dinner kind of inconvenient. but a/vision 1 last night was brilliant with wolfgang voigt and hermann kolgen.
as for boozing out, the nocturne/metropolis events are usually good for that. i also like that really sketchy bar a few doors down from metropolis. :)
i sent a monday dinner invitation to mr. khan (a naid organizer), but i don't exactly know when he is arriving from france. i'll let you know if i get a reply.

we're going to meet at Les 3 Brasseurs on St-Denis at 8pm on monday... tentatively it's barzoule, gd, zapper, med, and slamex. if anyone else wants to join us, please say so and we'll see you tomorrow.
PARTY REPORT:
the venue was nice and the attendies were awesome. there were also constant runnings of both demoshow and beer.
Main downside is that the attendance turnout was of 40 percents: on the 5 person expected only 2 showed up. Second downside was the sound in the place was too loud so the actual demomusic was really hard to hear from the iPod Touch and GP2X.
For the compos: gd won the "finish your meal first" compo (with a uge gap) while I won the "get at the place first" compo by a very tiny margin.
